Cobbett Road might get a little busier due to temporary closure of Portswood library for refurb but we will still welcome everyone to our wonderful little library.

Portswood Library will be closing for three weeks from Monday 2 November 2026 for building improvements and significant decorative works. Your improved library will then reopen at 10am on Monday 23 November 2026. 📚

The closest alternative libraries are Cobbett Road Community Hub and Library, Central and Bitterne however library membership allows you to use any Southampton City Library. You can also access the Digital Library, where you’ll find an extensive collection of eBooks and eAudiobooks!

Recent loans will have an extended return date to cover the closure. You can also return items to any other Southampton City Library.

We apologise for any inconvenience this closure may cause but we look forward to welcoming you to your new and improved library next month.

Thank you to everyone who joined in with the needle craft session today. Was lovely to meet you all and to spend a couple of hours crafting and chatting. We hope to see you all again next week, well those who aren’t in Spain 😉
