Bursledon Buttercups Early Years Centre - A Forest Pre-School Learning Through The Wonder Of Nature

We aim to provide a stimulating and natural environment in which all children learn, develop and thrive through an imaginative and adventurous curriculum, supported by qualified and dedicated adults. We achieve this by exploring the beautiful natural environment around our setting each morning with the children, ensuring that they have plenty of fresh air, exercise and adventures. Research has sho

wn that children who spend a lot of time outdoors grow in confidence and self esteem, developing independence and resourcefulness, have better social skills, more sophisticated written and spoken language skills, attention and focus skills, an increased awareness and respect for their environment, and as a bonus they also sleep very well - which brings its own rewards.

As some of you will know the exhibition last year struck something deep in me, probably rather buried in shame, uncertainty, and wrapped in vulnerability.

I never imagined I'd be in the show the following year, let alone on the exhibition poster.

You can find our stories and photos via my bio, but please do go and visit the show in person.

Starting today until the end of the month, you'll find COLOURISM at:
šŸ“Southampton Central Library
šŸ“Woolston Library
šŸ“Shirley Library
šŸ“MAST Mayflower Studios
šŸ“The Spark, Solent
šŸ“Barton Peveril

DM me if you go, I'd love to hear your thoughts!

I am very proud to celebrate Black History month in Southampton with my daughter Daisy who was part of the Colourism photographic exhibition. In these sad times, when people of colour are actively discriminated against it is so important to remember that we all have roots in Africa and this is something that should bring us together in celebration of everyone. Just one big family at the end of the day!

My name is Toluwa and I identify as Black. I grew up in South London which has a significant Black population, and as such had an influence on my upbringing. I was aged around 10/11 when I noticed that I was different to the wider population. Both of my parents are Nigerian, my father is from the so...

The Buttercups of Bursledon will be there. We have loved watching the new pavilion rising from the ground. We would like to thank Dan, Matt and Peter for being such great friends to us over the years and also the parish council for being so welcoming.

Wow, what a wonderful picnic, so many faces old and new. It was so good to reminisce and catch up. My only regret is we didn’t get a group photo, too busy talking! šŸ˜†

I’ve had an idea! I’d like to create a Buttercups Memory Book and I need everyone’s help. Please send me a couple of the photos of your child at Buttercups and I will make them in to one of those photo books. I know we took so many photos over the years but we were not allowed to keep them and it would be so special to have a book with all the children included. thank you in advance.

We will arrange another picnic for next year and we keep the Buttercups page going so we can all keep in touch.

Thank you once again for coming today and I know some of you couldn’t make, we missed you and hope you can be with us next year.

Hi everyone, It’s Alan here. Kate and I are sitting here at home reading through all of your lovely cards and messages, and marvelling at all of your gifts. It is quite overwhelming, after quite an overwhelming day, and both of us keep brimming over with tears.

We are blessed to have such a wonderful community of caring people around us. I can’t put into words how much it all means to us, and we both thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

We couldn’t have achieved what we have without the support of our wonderful team, Rachel, Steph and Carly, and I don’t think we can ever properly express how much this community of like-minded souls means to us. You are all - the children, the parents, the grandparents, the friends, the wider community in Bursledon - the very best of humanity, and we love you all.
