Meet Jamie and Ynez 👋

Jamie is a Software Development and Digital Design T Level student on placement with Digital team.

Ynez, Chief Nursing Information Officer hosted Jamie’s T Level Industry Placement.

Although they're at very different stages of their careers, Jamie and Ynez have each brought unique skills and perspectives, proving that learning goes both ways.

Jamie said 💬”Some tasks have been challenging, especially when doing something for the first time, but working through them, asking questions and finding solutions has helped me become more independent and improve my problem-solving skills for the future.”

Ynez said 💬”It's rewarding to support someone at the start of their career journey, and I'm looking forward to seeing how Jamie develops his skills and confidence throughout the rest of his placement.”

Please see below an update from Isle of Wight NHS Trust about upcoming temporary car park closures at St Mary's Hospital 🚗👇

Temporary car park closures from Monday 26 October to Friday 30 October.

We will be carrying out essential line marking replacement works across a number of hospital roads and car parks. This maintenance will help keep our parking areas clearly marked and safe for patients, visitors and staff.

Affected areas will close late the evening before, ready for work to begin at around 6am. If you are visiting us on an affected day, please consider using public transport or arranging drop-off and collection, and allow extra time for your journey.

We apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience while this essential maintenance is carried out.

Did you know you can become a member of our Trust? Either as public or service user and carer.

Our public membership is made up of individuals who live in a specific area as outlined within the Constitution. They are divided into six constituencies based on local government boundaries.

The Service User and Carer Constituency is made up of members who have used services or cared for those who have used services in a period of 3 years immediately preceding the date of an application by the patient or carer to become a member of the trust. This Constituency has not been divided into classes.

This could be in any area, and includes all of our services across physical health, mental health and learning disabilities.

T Levels Week 2026 is finally here! 🎉

Starting the week off strong 💪today is Motivation Monday.

We’re looking at the amazing statistics and data insights our colleagues and T Level students have made possible over the past year.

✅ 10 T Level students supported
✅ 5 divisional placements
✅ 79% clinical placements
✅ 21% non-clinical placements

For ‘Future Friday’ we’ll be looking at how we aim to grow our T Level industry placement offers and partnerships.

Annemarie Aburrow, a specialist dietitian at Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, is working as part of the NHS-led Screening, Prevention, Outreach and Treatment for Health Equity (SPOT) Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) programme.

The programme provides early, personalised support to people following a CKD diagnosis – helping them understand their condition, reduce anxiety and make changes that can protect their kidney health.

After spending nearly 15 years working within her team, Jessica knew the difference rehabilitation could make to people’s lives. But taking the next step to become a qualified Occupational Therapist opened up a whole new world of opportunities, challenges and learning.

As we celebrate Allied Health Professions (AHPs) Day, Jessica shares her journey from Rehab Assistant to qualified Occupational Therapist, the lessons she has learnt during her first year in the role, and why she would encourage others to follow a career in the Allied Health Professions.

26 years between academic studies and in a different language: Insea's story! 💙

Now at the end of her apprenticeship, we asked Inesa to share her experiences of returning to education at the age of 49 and why she wanted to undertake the nursing associate apprenticeship within the Falls Prevention team.

"I felt completely out of my depth. I remember thinking, 'What on earth are you doing here? You're nearly 50 years old.' - as I was much older than everyone else on my course. But my tutor said something that will stay with me forever: 'You have amazing experience of the 'doing'. We're now here to teach you the why.' I knew then, I was in the right place."
