Making healthcare more accessible πŸ™Œ

Many GP practices across Hampshire and Isle of Wight now have Sensory and Communication Boxes to help support people during waiting times and appointments.

The boxes contain items that can help reduce anxiety, support communication and make healthcare settings more comfortable.

Small adjustments can make a big difference. πŸ’™

A huge thank you to everyone who supported our Isle of Wight Learning Disability Team fundraising event at St Mary’s Hospital today as part of Learning Disability Week.

Colleagues, patients, visitors and members of the public enjoyed raffle and tombola prizes generously donated by local businesses, along with plenty of homemade cakes.

Together, we raised Β£250 for First Act, a learning disability adult theatre group, and The Phoenix Project, a learning disability day service. Two fantastic local charities supporting adults with learning disabilities on the Isle of Wight.

Thank you to everyone who donated, took part and helped make the event such a success.

As football fans across the world gear up for the start of the World Cup, one member of our Hospital at Home North team has his own football story to tell.

Healthcare Support Worker, Adrian Butt, has created a bespoke Subbuteo team based on his colleagues, reflecting the different roles and uniforms within the service.

What started as a personal project has become a creative way of celebrating the people behind NHS care. Adrian is now exploring whether it could also be introduced as an activity for patients to support engagement and rehabilitation.

His lifelong passion for the game has now caught the attention of BBC South Today, who visited our Herriard base this week to film a feature on Adrian and the team.

πŸ“ΊοΈβš½οΈ Look out for the story on BBC South Today 6.30pm this evening.
