A fantastic day of volunteering last Friday at Burton Dassett Hills Country Park! 👏

A group of corporate volunteers from EuroNorth joined our regular Friday volunteers along with Rangers Phil and George. They made excellent progress clearing a section of bramble and elder from Fox Covert and raising the crowns of beeches at the top of Hartshill. This work helps promote a healthy woodland ecosystem and a welcoming environment for visitors and wildlife. 🌿

If you're interested in organising a corporate volunteering day with us with your organisation, or would like to join our regular volunteer group once a month on a Friday, email us at [email protected]. 💚

What a day! 🌟 The atmosphere has been incredible as we’ve welcomed the Lloyds Tour of Britain Women to Warwickshire.

Congratulations to Stage Winner Lorena Wiebes, Tour of Britain Winner Kim Le Court-Pienaar, and all the other riders who took on the final stage today. 🏆🚴‍♀️

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make today such a fantastic event. It was brilliant to see residents lining the streets as far as the eye could see to cheer on the riders and show their support.

A special mention must go to nine-year-old Elliot Smith, who designed the start flag, and William Fletcher, also nine, who designed the winner’s trophy. And thank you to all the staff who worked so hard behind the scenes, the cyclists who gave it their all, everyone who came out to support the race, and our local residents and visitors for their patience with the road closures.

You all helped Warwickshire truly shine today. 💚

Another challenging climb for the elite cyclists as the Lloyds Tour of Britain Women took on Burton Dassett Hills today! 🚴‍♀️⛰️

It was fantastic to welcome the world’s best cyclists to Warwickshire as they tackled the infamous climb as part of the final stage.

Congratulations to Eva van Agt, who was first over the Queen of the Mountain at Burton Dassett Hills, taking the full six points! 👑⛰️

Well done to Eva, the riders who followed close behind and every cyclist who took on the challenge today. A brilliant day of cycling in Warwickshire! 💚

Have you enjoyed visiting us this summer? For some, the best is still to come: and you can see it all for less with one of our annual parking permits. 🍂

It’s been fantastic to see Warwickshire’s country parks and greenways brimming with activity over the summer, but we know that many of you love other parts of the year the most.

Soon, everything will turn red and gold; our paths and trails will get quieter, and you can look out for birds and mammals squirrelling away supplies for the winter. 🍁

Then there’s the magic of the cold: fractals and frozen lakes, frosted leaves and the gentle stillness that settles across our parks. ❄️

Before you know it, the early signs of spring will morph into full-blown blossoms, and our parks will once again be full of life. 🌸

Which is your favourite season? Let us know in the comments!

Whichever you like best, if you visit more than once a month, you’ll save money by buying an annual permit. If you buy one now, you’ll be covered for next summer too.

And the best part? All the income from parking goes directly towards looking after our country parks. Find out more below. 👇

Are you ready to welcome the Lloyds Tour of Britain back to Burton Dassett Hills Country Park? 🚴⛰️

This Sunday, 23 August, Warwickshire will host the final stage of the women’s race. While the start and finish will be in Leamington Spa, the world-class cyclists will once again take on the infamous ascent at Burton Dassett Hills as one of the two Queen of the Mountain climbs.

This challenging 700m stretch has an average gradient of 9%, making for a gripping battle as the cyclists compete to claim the Queen of the Mountain title! 💪

The riders are expected to pass through Burton Dassett Hills at around 1.30pm. A one-way system will be in place through the park from 1pm to 3pm, with vehicles needing to enter from the roundabout by the Ministry of Defence in Kineton, at the bottom of the hill off the B4100, and exit at the other end of the park towards Fenny Compton and Avon Dassett.

The road will close completely as the riders pass through, so please leave plenty of time for your journey, park responsibly and be mindful of local residents.

If you are watching from Burton Dassett Hills, there'll also be coffee and ice creams, flags to decorate and cowbells to cheer on the riders! 🔔🍦

So, will you be enjoying a day out in the hills to cheer on the cyclists as they pass through, or getting fully stuck into the festivities taking place in Leamington Spa?! 🎉

A message from our team following the situation at Burton Dassett Hills last night. ⛰️

We know the exceptionally high visitor numbers caused significant disruption for local residents, particularly with the volume of vehicles and parking issues. We’re really sorry for the impact this had on the local community.

While most visitors behaved responsibly, the sheer number of people at the hills did create some significant challenges. We continue to ask everyone visiting Burton Dassett Hills to help us look after this special place by parking considerately, taking rubbish home, respecting local residents and wildlife, and being mindful of other visitors.

Thank you to those who did exactly that and helped leave the hills as they found them. 💚

We’re already looking at what we can do differently when we know to expect exceptionally high visitor numbers, and will continue working with Warwickshire Police and Warwickshire Fire & Rescue Service to help manage the challenges we experience at our country park.

Thank you to local residents for their patience and understanding, and to Warwickshire Police for their support last night.

🌘 Are you watching the eclipse from somewhere in Warwickshire today? 🌘
Whether you're at one of our beautiful country parks, in a garden, out on a walk, or enjoying a local green space, we'd love to see your photos! 📸

Share your photos in comments ⬇️ and tell us where in Warwickshire you're watching the eclipse from. We'd love to create a gallery!

If you're heading outdoors, please remember to enjoy our green spaces responsibly:
✅ Take your litter home with you
✅ Respect wildlife, nature and other visitors
✅ Some of our country parks are expected to be busier than usual, please allow plenty of time for travel and parking and make sure access is always available for emergency vehicles
✅ Park only in designated areas where applicable
✅ Do not light BBQs, campfires and take care with ci******es and other potential fire hazards
✅ Follow local guidance and help keep Warwickshire's outdoor spaces safe and beautiful for everyone

⚠️ And importantly, never look directly at the sun without appropriate eye protection as this can cause serious damage to your eyes, especially during an eclipse.
We can't wait to see your photos from across Warwickshire! 🌞🌙✨
