Save the date! Get ready to celebrate Armed Forces Day on Sunday 21 June.

This is a free entry event to show South Tyneside Council’s appreciation for our Armed Forces, to celebrate the incredible work they do and for everyone to join in and have a fantastic day out.

Head down to Bents Park for an exciting day started by the Uniformed Parade, followed with fairground rides, live music from 5 Minutes to Midnight, The Kansas City Shuffle and The Wolcott Band. We also have Rock Choir performing as well as acts from The Next Big Thing. There’ll be stalls, food and drink and more activities for all age groups.

The Uniformed Parade will depart Gypsies Green at 10:30am, led by a marching band, making their way along Sea Road to Bents Park for a short service in the park, prior to the family fun activities.

We have received support from the Ministry of Defence which will help us with this event and to celebrate the work our Armed Forces do even more so.

♻️ Recycling Tip: No Textiles in Your Blue Bin

What are textiles?
Textiles are any items made from fabric, including:
👕 Clothes
🧦 Socks and underwear
🛏️ Bedding and towels
🪡 Curtains and other soft furnishings
🚫 Textiles should NOT go in your blue recycling bin.

Putting them in the wrong bin can contaminate recycling and stop other materials from being reused.

✅ Instead, donate them or take them to a textile recycling bank. If they can't be reused or donated - pop them in your grey bin.

💡 Right item, right bin- it makes a big difference.
