South Molton Fire Station We cover the town of South Molton, surrounding villages and hamlets with an area of 297 square kilometres and a population of over 12000 people.

South Molton is a retained fire station working the 'on-call' duty system. We have 12 personnel; 1 Watch Manager, 3 Crew Managers, 10 Firefighters.
2 Fire appliances; 1 MAN Fire engine, and 1 Environmental Protection Unit.

West Anstey Exmoor

At 11.15 last night,3 crews from South Molton, Dulverton and Bampton fire stations and a water bowser from Barnstaple Fire Station were mobilised to reports of a fire in the West Anstey area with a fire front of 1 mile.
Eventually, extra fire appliances were requested including 2 argocat wildfire vehicles from Lynton and Middlemoor Exeter.
The crew returned to home station at 2am this morning.

Fire crews from South Molton, Dulverton and Bampton were mobilised early last night to a moorland fire in the West Anstey area of Exmoor.
The fire was extinguished within an hour using hosereel jets and beaters.

As we experience drier spring and summers together with hotter temperatures, this can bring the added threat of wildfires.

23/02/26. A crew from South Molton were alerted at 0500hrs this morning to proceed to Okehampton as part of a three pump relief crew.
We returned to home station this afternoon at 1400hrs.

Fire Control have received multiple calls about a fire at The Promise School in Dartmoor View, Okehampton. Flames and thick black smoke could be seen from a distance. A crew from South Molton were mobilised this morning to a vehicle fire on the A361 at Bish Mill.
2 breathing apparatus wearers, 1 hosereel jet, a thermal imaging camera and small tools were used to extinguish the fire which caused severe damage.
A road closure was put in place while the incident was resolved.

Chulmleigh

A crew from South Molton and Chulmleigh were mobilised this morning to a car with 2 occupants stuck in deep fast flowing water.
4 firefighters in floodsuits waded out to the stranded car and we're able to safely walk the occupants to a place of safety.

The road at Bridge Reeve remains closed and cordons are up.Please observe all signs and do not attempt to drive through the floodwater.

A busy year of which we attended 201 incidents, which were 43 more than 2024

Environmental Protection Vehicle was mobilised to
16 Hazmat incidents / Environmental protection.

Also in 2025 , Crew Manager Carter and FF Hyde being presented with their 20 year Long Service Medal and certificate.

Firefighter Morris retiring after 26 years of service .

A rare occasion, but it is likely that we will be recruiting in the early part of 2026, so we will advertise through various social media when the time comes.

As the year 2025 draws to a close, we announce the retirement of FF Craig Morris after 26 years active service
At midnight tonight, the alerter will be put aside,the battery taken out and he can reflect on the remarkable achievement and dedication.
So from the community of South Molton and the neighbouring parishes, serving and retired fire service colleagues and all emergency service responders,we say a huge THANK YOU.
Also, much gratitude goes to M Way and Son Transport Ltd who throughout his 26 years of service have allowed Craig to respond to incidents at any time of the day or night.
Craig, your time has come to ' Knock Off ,Make Up ,Your time is done '

🚨After an incredible 26 years of dedicated service, we say a heartfelt thank you and farewell to FF Craig Morris, one of South Molton Fire Station 14’s long serving crew.
Serving as a on call firefighter, Craig has shown unwavering commitment to the community β€” responding at all hours, in all conditions, always ready to protect life and property.
His knowledge, professionalism, teamwork, and calmness under pressure have made a lasting impact on colleagues, the wider Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service and the people of South Molton and beyond.
Craig has been there for countless shouts, drill nights, and station memories, helping shape Station 14 into what it is today. His experience and dedication will be greatly missed.
On behalf of everyone at South Molton Station 14, thank you, Craig, for 26 years of service, sacrifice, and support.
We wish you a long, happy, and well-earned retirement 🚨
