Spirit of Ruchill/Possilpark

Spirit of Ruchill/Possilpark Spirit of Ruchill and Possilpark began in 2015 and continues on as a local funding programme, led by the residents of Ruchill and Possilpark

Ruchill/Possilpark is one of six communities in Scotland that are receiving an investment of around £250,000 from the Spirit of 2012 Fourteen programme, to increase participation in one or more of the following areas: sport and physical activity, arts and culture and volunteering and social action. The aim is to increase the reach and legacy of Glasgow 2014, connecting people and communities and i

ncreasing wellbeing. It will inspire communities to do more by building on existing strengths and developing new ideas. We want to support people to join in and get involved, because evidence tells us that participation has a positive impact on wellbeing and happiness and helps build stronger communities. The programme is not a conventional grants programme: it is community led. The Ruchill/Possilpark community will be at the heart of designing, deciding and distributing the the funds. There will be many ways for people to get involved in Spirit of Ruchill/Possilpark. There will be opportunities to:

- come along to community events/ activities
- tell us about what's good in Ruchill and Possilpark and what you want more of!
- help out, lend a hand or volunteer in a variety
of ways

Thriving Places is supporting the delivery and investment being made by Spirit 2012.

Amazing news for Possilpark and the Canal Ward, congratulations to Possilpark People's Trust

Possilpark People's Trust, a community-led organisation, is excited to share that we have now officially taken responsibility for Possilpoint Community Centre.

Refurbishment work has already begun, and we’re looking forward to transforming the space into a vibrant hub for everyone. The refurbishment is expected to take around 10 months, and we can’t wait to share the journey with you along the way.

Please stay informed for forthcoming updates, previews, and opportunities for engagement. Collectively, we are committed to fostering a more vibrant and resilient community.

The project represents a significant investment by the Scottish Government, Glasgow City Council, Garfield Weston Foundation, The Robertson Trust, The Clothworkers Foundation, and The Coram Fund and we would like to express our sincere thanks to all.

Sincere thanks go to Hub West Scotland for their guidance and expertise, and supply chain members; Fleming Buildings, Collective Architecture, Narro Associates, Rybka, Armour Construction Consultants, Burness Paull LLP and all other partners who have assisted in the delivery of this exciting community development project.
