🗑️ Community Litter Pick for Carers Week!

On 3rd June, staff and volunteers from Carers Trust Solihull joined forces with Friends of Shirley Park Litter Pickers, alongside teams from West Brom Building Society, Couch Perry & Wilkes, and members of the local community, to take part in a community litter pick.

The event was organised to raise awareness of Carers Week and give something back to the community that plays such an important role in supporting unpaid carers of all ages.

Together, we collected an incredible 16 bags of litter, helping to keep our local area clean and welcoming for everyone.

A huge thank you to everyone who took part and helped make a positive difference.

We had the pleasure of attending the Volunteer Fair at The Core Library this afternoon to share the volunteering opportunities available at Carers Trust Solihull.

It was lovely speaking with so many members of the public who are interested in getting involved and supporting carers in the community.

🎶 A huge thank you to the Balsall Common Singers! 🎶

We were delighted to receive a cheque for £624, which will go towards our Young Carers Blackwell Residential Trip.

The choir, led by Barry Todd, raised the money through their Spring Concert and generously shared the proceeds between our Young Carers and a local Dementia Café.

Thank you to everyone involved for helping make a real difference to the lives of young carers in Solihull.

This year we are fundraising to help make Blackwell Residential 2026 possible for local young carers 💙

Young carers spend every day helping to look after a family member, often taking on responsibilities far beyond their years. Blackwell gives them the opportunity to take a break from their caring role, enjoy outdoor activities, build confidence, make friendships and create lasting memories.

With your support, we can help give young carers the experience they deserve.

Last week, for Dementia Action Week, we attended a dementia event hosted by Alzheimer's Society.

It was a great event and gave us the opportunity to speak with many people caring for someone with dementia, as well as discuss the support and services available to unpaid carers.
