🌿 It’s nearly time for the little wild ones to back in the woods and we can’t wait!

All the seasons are our favourite but there’s something especially magical about the summer term - the woods are awake and full of life 🌸🐛 The trees are so green, the sun is shining, and the elderflower blooming!

We have a handful of spaces in our early years groups for the coming half-term block which starts next week - if you’ve been thinking about joining us, now is the time!

Go to bookwhen.com/wildlives to grab one of the last spots 🙌

🌳Home educating families! Join our new monthly Home-ed Community Days in Warley Woods, B67 💚🌳

Here’s a glimpse of last month’s community day: Tools, fire, food, plenty of free play and no pressure. Plus some genuinely good company for the grown-ups too - real conversations, shared experiences, and a community that gets it. And check out that nettle & lemon cake! Yum!

Our new full-day sessions (10am–3pm) give children the space to learn at their own pace, while parents get real time to connect and have proper conversations. Plus a shared meal cooked on the fire every session 🔥

The group is kept small, with experienced leader and an assistant. This allows us to work safely with tools and fire while maintaining a relaxed and social environment.

WHAT TO EXPECT:
🔥 Fire lighting and campfire cooking
🪓 Safe use of tools (knives, saws, etc.)
⛺️ Shelter building and woodland projects
🍄‍🟫 Bushcraft skills and outdoor learning
✨ Open-ended play and exploration
💚 Time to build friendships and confidence for both children and adults

Our next community day is Wednesday 20th May!

Last week our early years groups welcomed May in the woods with mini maypoles, dandelion pancakes and lots of lovely woodland play and wonder 🌿✨

We created a maypole around one of our trees, weaving ribbons as we danced and sang together. The wild ones also practised making sparks with fire strikers, chopping wood for the fire, mud painting, and quietly observing the birds, insects and our favourite squirrel, Sid - who may have sneaked a piece of fallen pancake or two! 🙊

Tuesday’s group gave thanks and sad goodbyes to Juliet, our brilliant forest school assistant who is off to share her magic with more lucky children and will be hugely missed by us all. We wish her all the happiness and adventure! ✨

Back in February I did a workshop with the wonderful on nature and the nervous system and I’ve been thinking about it ever since! So, today it was brilliant to be able to share those ideas at our Grounded session for women, exploring the Wild Apothecary with its jars full of the many ways nature can support and soothe our nervous systems.

After thoughtful discussion, and quiet time in our sit spots and hammocks, we got moving - chopping firewood, picking dandelions & nettles, and making fire. Then we gathered together around the campfire, chatting in the sunshine and sharing dandelion pancakes and nettle crisps. Delicious!

The birds sang, the sky was blue, the leaves were green, and the connections were beautiful! My heart is full from all the time spent with brilliant wild women in our circle, it really is a special space. Hugely grateful for you all 💚 Next month is a summer solstice special, more details coming soon! 😎
