πŸŠβ€β™€οΈπŸ’™ Drowning Prevention Week πŸ’™πŸŠβ€β™‚οΈ

This week, we're supporting Drowning Prevention Week and helping our swimmers build the knowledge and skills that can save lives.

Did you know that drowning can happen quickly and quietly? That's why learning to swim, understanding water safety, and knowing what to do in an emergency are so important.

🌊 Key Water Safety Tips:
βœ… Always swim with an adult or lifeguard nearby.
βœ… Follow pool and open water safety rules.
βœ… Never push, jump on, or hold others underwater.
βœ… If you get into difficulty, remember: Float to Live – lie on your back, relax, and float until you can control your breathing.
βœ… If someone else is in trouble, tell an adult immediately and call for help. Never put yourself at risk.

For Parents: Swimming lessons are about much more than strokes and badges. They help children develop confidence, awareness, and vital life-saving skills that can keep them safe around water throughout their lives.

For Swimmers: Whether you're just starting out or training every week, every lesson helps you become stronger, safer, and more confident in and around the water. 🌟

Let's work together to keep everyone safe and enjoy the water responsibly.

β˜€οΈ As temperatures rise and more people head to lakes, rivers, reservoirs and the coast to cool off, it's important to remember that warm weather does not mean warm water.

Recent tragic incidents during the May heatwave have highlighted the dangers of risks such as cold water shock. Even on a hot day, open water temperatures can remain dangerously low, causing an involuntary gasp response, rapid breathing, panic and loss of swimming ability within seconds.

At our first session back on Sunday 7th June, our teachers will be sharing a cold water shock awareness presentation with our older swimmers to help them understand the risks and stay safe around open water this summer.

We encourage all swimmers and families to take a few minutes to learn about cold water shock using the information below and the simple steps that can save lives.

🏊 Stay informed.
🌊 Respect the water.
πŸ’™ Stay safe.

For any budding Lifeguards!

A break between sessions, enjoying our pool just like you all do....our lifeguards are amazing and keep us all safe. Do you have a young person in your life who might like to qualify as a lifeguard??

We are currently arranging our own lifeguarding course and this is something we want to do each and every year at least once. You need to be 16+ to take the exam. Our first course we are hoping to be this summer. It's a commitment of 6 days, there will be also be a financial commitment so if you or your young person might be interested in taking part please email [email protected] and we will explain even more. Love Billy!!
