Did you know that the Sleaford Castle model is part of the Common Ground joint exhibition between Sleaford Museum and Hub-Sleaford, now open in both locations and running until Nov 8th 2026.
Now it’s displayed in the main gallery of the Hub, you can get ‘up close and personal’ with the Castle model in a way not possible when it was in the window of the museum - see the amazing detail and craftsmanship. It was created by Steve Giullari.

Sleaford Museum is taking part in the NK Walking Festival once more this year - a walk starting at the west door of St Denys’ Church in the market place at 2pm on Friday 19th June is led by Mark Bamford, who will combine history and heritage in the stories he’ll tell on the walk to and around the Sleaford Castle site. Don’t miss it! 😊

Have you seen the work that’s going on at Newark Castle, a ‘sister castle’ to Sleaford, also originally built by Bishop Alexander at around the same time and probably very similar in style?

The £6.7 million project is an extensive regeneration opening previously inaccessible rooms, restoring the curtain walls, and it will create a roof-top viewing platform with broad views of the Trent Valley.
The gatehouse is receiving a new roof and will feature new interactive exhibition spaces detailing the castle’s medieval and Civil War history.
It sounds fantastic and it opens for business hopefully later this year!

So glad to see you open again 👍🏻😣

We just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone for all the lovely words of support after the break in on Monday. We had a record number of visitors yesterday, all of which came to wish us the best and say that they were thinking of us after the unfortunate incident.

Repairs are planned in and are already partially underway, but we are open as usual now, so please do pop in and say hello if you're in town. We have our free half-term children's trail on, focusing on the female rulers of England and Great Britain, which is well worth a go, a well as a free craft to get stuck into.

Another one to follow is The Bourne History Guy who created the fabulous model of Sleaford Castle currently on display in the window of Sleaford Museum. He followed his progress during the make with fascinating vlogs which are all on his pages.

If you’re passing Castlefield this week, it’s worth popping in to see the new Welcome board which has been erected - the last of the information boards created by the Civic Trust SCHG working group.
Thanks to Sleaford Town Council and also for the 2 new picnic benches - may not be quite the weather for picnics yet, but hopefully it won’t be too much longer!
It’s interesting to see how much water is in the moat too - indicative of just how much rain has fallen in recent weeks.
Work by STC to improve the entrance to the site is well into the planning stage and hopefully (if the weather behaves) that will be completed in the next few months.
