We're looking forward to welcoming back historian Lucy Adlington with her ever-popular History Wardrobe show - this time with a Jane Austen twist.

In this delightful talk, the creator of Bad Girls & Bonnets and Ladies of a Certain Age explores the pleasures and pastimes of Austen’s era, from leisurely strolls through the shrubbery to the art of enchanting embroidery.

Enjoy a showcase of marvellous original fashions for sport and dancing, alongside entertaining and witty readings from Austen’s beloved novels.

Winner of the Jerwood/Photoworks Prize, Portrait of Britain, and multiple major UK photography awards, Joanne Coates is one of the most distinctive documentary voices working today.

Coates’ practice explores class, gender and rural identity in contemporary Britain, often rooted in her own lived experience in the North. With past exhibitions at Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art, Belfast Exposed Photography Gallery, Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art and Stills, she brings a vital, unfiltered perspective to the social landscape.

Discover her work, now on display in the Exhibition Gallery, as part of Aesthetica Art Prize 20.
