Brilliant day for a talented young angler who travelled up 2.5 hours from Derby for the fishing at Kilnsey. He landed 15 fish with 3 being double figures. His fly of choice was a snake and it did him well.

These are the pictures he sent in of his catches!

Let us know how you get on!

Discovery trail

When the weather gets hot – as it has been recently – it isn’t just the beach-lovers who are on the move. Honeybees can get restless too. If the colony has grown too large then some of the bees can decide to look for new digs. That’s what happened here at Kilnsey last week, when some of the bees in our Observation Hive (which you can see on our Discovery Trail) set off in a swarm, and settled into a new home in a hawthorn bush nearby. So Jamie was tasked with shepherding the escaped honeybees into a new hive. It can be a risky job so he put on a beesuit and began to carefully cut the hawthorn branch where the swarm (about the size of a pineapple) was hanging out. After a few minutes the bees were moved into their new hive, which would be more comfortable (and weather-proof!) for them. They’ve settled into their new home now and once they’ve built up their numbers they should be established and making honey again. 🐝

Anglers lake

Another tank of our biggest fish on site went into the lake yesterday. Our fish farmer Brad graded through the largest rainbow and brown trout and decided to go big or go home.

He stocked a record 21lbs rainbow and a 16lbs brown which the lake hasn’t seen for a while.

We kindly ask fishermen to look after these trout and make sure they are well revived before releasing them so another angler can catch it another day.

If you don’t understand how to please don’t be afraid to ask as we are happy to help! 🎣🐟

Family Fishing

In the family pond we stocked almost 1.5 tonnes of our stunning rainbow trout for the bank holiday weekend.

This will ensure everyone that comes to Kilnsey for the weekend goes back with a fish for dinner 🍽️.

A 12lbs rainbow was stocked in the pond for a challenge.

See if you can get in out! 🎣

Anglers Lake

Beautiful weather at Kilnsey park today. We have made sure the lakes are well stocked for the upcoming bank holiday weekend. ☀️🐟

Four 15-20lbs rainbows and a 14lbs brown have been split across the lakes for the weekend.

Nothing over 5lbs is to be taken out of our lakes and no blues or browns.

On busier days we ask anglers to rotate around the pegs to ensure everyone has a great day fishing.

Hope to see you this weekend! 🎣

Discovery Trail

Our bees have swarmed! 🐝🍯

We found them in a pipe yesterday and luckily managed to save the queen. We put her in our bee box and the others quickly followed.

The rest of the hive stayed behind in our bee house and will make a new queen for the summer!
