Over the last 2 weeks there has been an Oncall Fire Fighters recruits course running at our training centre in Easingwold 👩‍🚒👨‍🚒🚒

We are extremely happy and proud to have a new crew member joining us after successfully passing out!

Some of you may recognise the friendly face of Damo who will be receiving his alerter on Tuesday at drill night📟

Damo will be a great assest to have joining our team!

He is also one of 3 Oncall fire fighters to join the Crews across Craven!!!

Not quite weather related 🤔😆

But a very true story.

Skipton were out of area for over 1 hour to cover for Settle Fire Station yesterday

Fortunately Grassington fire station were able cover on standby until our return.

All Craven fire stationes are all actively recruiting Oncall Fire Fighters, if this is a bolt on career you would look to pursue head on to the link below for more info.

Due to Settle Fire Station still really struggling for on call firefighters, the station was offline this morning due to limited crew.

At 08:54 this morning 26/01/26 a call was received to Lower Greenfoot, Settle to a report of an alarm activation in a residential property.

A crew from Skipton responded to this call and found it was a false alarm due to maintenance works being carried out.

Ewe have got to be kidding

One sheep rescue 🐑 at Bolton Abbey

A concerned member of the public rang our control room after they noticed a sheep stuck down a banking next to the river.
Animal rescue from Ripon 🚒were also sent to assist.

Fortunately 2 fire fighters being lowered down the banking to its rescue was enough to make it jump in the river and swim to safety.

Today some the crew and several cadets attended the remembrance Sunday parade down Skipton High Street, to honour all those who served and sacrificed for our today.

They joined hundreds of others who gathered to pay their respects.

As always a fantastic community spirit shown by all who attended 🙏

Craven Stations, Grassington fire station 🚒 & Bentham Fire Station 🚒 all assisting across at the Moor fire 🔥 today.

With some help from Summerbridge Fire Station 🚒 propping up Skipton incase of local call outs📟 throughout most of the day.

An incredible amount of hours has already been provided by these local crews with minimum stints of 10 hours being provided most days across all lights of day.

Grassington initially being called out this morning at 0200 and Skipton at 0300. They were both stationed 11KM north of Fylingdales. The rain 🌧 has helped today but the wind has still been picking up embers in the ground 🔥
The brief was to protect the northern tree line!

Other national resources have been sent to assist North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service with this major incident from across the Country 💧 🚒🚒

North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service are rolling out the cadets scheme at Skipton again this year.

This is a fantastic learning opportunity for kids. We have had several fire fighters come through this programme and join us as fire fighters over the years.

Crews at Skipton have had a busy bank holiday Monday.
📟📟📟📟📟📟
The 1st 🚒 got called to Langdale Moor 🔥 at 0800 till late this evening

The 2nd🚒 got a call out to a bank side fire in Bolten Abbey 🚂 at 1330 which was out on arrival due swift action from staff

The 2nd then recieved another call to assist West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service with a wild 🔥 on Silsden moor later in the afternoon

If anybody is wondering about a smog or mist settling over Skipton, we believe this to be smoke from Langdale Moor that has now reached Skipton due to wind direction! 🔥 Crews have already been called to two separate incidents this evening in relation to the smell. Please keep all bbqs to designated areas or preferably on your own property as national resources are currently spread very thin 🙏

We're getting a lot of calls reporting smoke in and around York.

We believe this is smoke from the fire on Langdale Moor.

If you're being impacted by the smoke we advise keeping doors and windows closed.
