A closure order has been secured on Skegness property.

A closure order has been secured on Skegness property.

Officers in Skegness have today, Tuesday 2 June, secured a closure order on a flat known to be associated with persistent drug misuse and anti-social behaviour (ASB).

We had received multiple reports and concerns from local residents regarding Flat 2, 72 South Parade, which enabled us to focus our resources and gather sufficient evidence to secure a closure order for the property. The reports detailed ongoing anti-social behaviour, including drug use and dealing, loud music at unsociable hours, and incidents of shouting and fighting.

🗣️ Community Beat Manager, PC Sarah Garbutt said: "I’d like to reassure residents that we take all reports of anti-social behaviour extremely seriously. The key message is to report all concerns with as much evidence as possible. The matters raised by the community have been instrumental in allowing us to take decisive action, and the closure order is a clear demonstration of our commitment to keeping the area safe.

"We understand the impact that persistent issues such as disorder, and suspected drug activity have on people’s quality of life, and we remain determined to address these problems robustly. We will continue to work closely with partner agencies, monitor the situation, and take further enforcement action where necessary.

"I would like to thank residents for their continued support and for reporting concerns - this information is vital in helping us build the evidence needed to act. Please remain vigilant and continue to report any issues so we can ensure this area remains a safe and peaceful place to live."

We have also served four Section 8 notices under the Misuse of Drugs Act on four properties across Skegness. The purpose of these formal warnings is to notify the occupier that we are aware that drug dealing and use is potentially taking place at their premises and that they have a legal responsibility to stop it. We will monitor each property closely and will act robustly to progress prosecution, closure orders or other powers in order to improve safety and tackle ASB within the community.

Woman sentenced for multiple assault and public order offences in Skegness.

Woman sentenced for multiple assault and public order offences in Skegness.

A woman who pleaded guilty to multiple assaults and public order offences in Skegness has been sentenced to one year in prison.

Samantha Gardiner, 41, of Clarke Way, Southview Leisure Park, Skegness appeared at Lincoln Magistrates’ Court on 20 April. She was remanded to prison and pleaded guilty to all charges at a later hearing.

On Friday, 29 May, she was sentenced as follows:

➡️ Assault a person - ABH (10 months imprisonment)
➡️ Two counts of assaulting a constable in the ex*****on of his / her duty (two months concurrent for each count, to run consecutively to the 10 months for the ABH)
➡️ Assault by beating (one month concurrent)
➡️ Racially / religiously aggravated harassment (no separate penalty)
➡️ Two counts of using threatening / abusive words / behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress (one week concurrent for each count)
➡️ One count of using threatening / abusive words / behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress (no separate penalty)

She had also breached earlier bail conditions, resulting in two additional concurrent sentences of one month each.

The court heard how on 28 February, a two-year-old child was being lifted onto an arcade ride in Skegness by a relative. Gardiner was sat just a few metres away and threw a vodka bottle in the direction of the little girl, hitting her with force on the side of her head causing a large lump and bruising.

Our investigation later determined that prior to this incident, Gardiner had also been in the company of an unknown man and woman in the same arcade, where the man had recorded Gardiner on his mobile phone saying racial slurs, which were later posted to a local Facebook Community page.

Following the assault of the child, Gardiner then left the area and walked to another arcade. As she made her way, she intentionally hit out a member of the public with her handbag which struck the side of his head, thankfully without causing any injury. He was not connected to any of the people linked to the child’s assault.

All of the above had been captured on CCTV.

The little girl’s family had spotted the woman and had alerted police. She was swiftly arrested and transported to Skegness Police Station.

While on route to Skegness police custody suite, Gardiner constantly verbally abused both attending officers. After arriving at custody, she started becoming violent, inflicting scratches and bruises on one officer, spitting in the face of another.

Gardiner was charged and remanded with the multiple assaults and public order offences. She appeared at Lincoln Magistrates’ Court on Monday 3 March, where she was refused bail.

🗣️ Sergeant Billy Spence said: "This woman’s behaviour was unpredictable and alarming for all those who encountered her that day, and we have absolutely zero tolerance for that. People are entitled to enjoy the amenities that our wonderful town offers without fear of encountering such distasteful and frankly dangerous behaviour. Individuals found to be behaving in such a way will be dealt with swiftly and robustly.

"I would like to thank our community partners who greatly facilitated this investigation. Our teams will continue to work closely with partner agencies to ensure that offenders who disrupt the everyday enjoyment and safety of our community are held to account and brought to justice."

💬 A small change that makes a BIG difference

You might hear it said…
👂 “Look, there’s a police officer – they’ll take you away!”

We understand it’s often said in the moment but messages like this can unintentionally make young people feel scared of the police.

🚓 The reality? We’re here to help, protect and support especially when someone needs us most.

If children grow up feeling afraid, they might hesitate to approach us when they’re lost, worried, or in danger. And that’s the last thing we want.

✅ Instead, try this:
“Hey look, there’s a police officer give them a wave or say hello!”

👋 A simple shift helps build trust, confidence, and positive relationships from an early age.

Together, we can make sure young people see police officers as someone safe to turn to not something to fear.

🌊🚨 Tuesday night saw a HUGE multiagency training session take place with the Atlantis Alliance as teams came together across the Lincolnshire coastline to put their skills, teamwork and communication to the test.

Three live scenarios played out across both land and sea, helping strengthen our knowledge, understanding and joint agency response to incidents during the busy summer season ahead. 🌊🚓🚑🚤

The evening brought together teams from Wrangle, Skegness, Mablethorpe and Donna Nook Coastguard Rescue Teams, RNLI Lifeguards Lincolnshire, National Coastwatch Mablethorpe, Lincolnshire Police, Mablethorpe RNLI Lifeboat B-887 Jacqueline Saville and Inshore Lifeboat D-790 Stanley Whiteley-Chadwick, alongside some fantastic volunteer role players who helped make the scenarios feel as realistic as possible. 👏

From coordinating resources to testing decision making under pressure, the evening proved just how important partnership working is when it comes to keeping people safe along our coastline.

A massive thank you to everyone involved for their professionalism, enthusiasm and teamwork throughout the exercise.
The feedback from all agencies was incredibly positive and the teams found the evening hugely beneficial.
And of course... no Atlantis Alliance training evening would be complete without the team polishing off all the food and cake afterwards! 🍰😂

We are ready, but more importantly, we are looking forward to a fantastic summer season meeting you all, sharing safety information and handing out plenty of stickers along the coast. ☀️🌊
