Forever proud of our colleagues within the RNLI, who volunteer their time to launch and rescue anyone in difficulty around the coast.

A paramedic wouldn’t check someone’s passport before giving CPR.

A firefighter wouldn’t check a person’s criminal record before putting their fire out.

The lifeboat crews launching to rescue people in difficulty concentrate on just that, not what happens before or afterwards 💙

The RNLI is a charity that exists to save lives at sea. But recent events have generated deliberate misinformation and a misunderstanding about our purpose and our lifesaving work in the Channel.

As a result, some of our volunteers and staff have been the subject of online and, in some cases, physical abuse. This is unacceptable.

The RNLI’s people represent the very best of society. For over two hundred years they have dedicated themselves to rescuing people they’ve never met before, without judgment, fear or favour.

We are tasked by HM Coastguard to help those in distress, and we'll do so whenever, wherever and whoever they are.

We launched 9,058 times in 2025. Only 109 of those launches were to those in distress in the Channel – 1.2% of our total rescue work. Anyone rescued from a small boat by the RNLI is then taken into the care of the relevant UK authorities.

To those who stand with the RNLI, thank you. For more than two hundred years, we've saved lives at sea around the UK and Ireland, and that commitment remains unchanged.

👋🏼 END OF THE SEASON 👋🏼

Our lifeguard patrols in Lincolnshire have now finished for the season.

For emergencies at the beach, please continue to call 999 and ask for the coastguard.

It’s been another busy, hot summer so thank you for your support throughout. Special shout out to all of our colleagues in the emergency services and within the RNLI for their help during incidents.

Now for a well-earned rest! See you in 2027.

RESCUE - SKEGNESS

Lucy recently rescued a bodyboarder who was struggling to return to shore in the rough surf.

Another great example of why you should swim between the flags, so we can be there to keep an eye on you.

⭐️ 20+ MISSING CHILDREN ⭐️

Today alone, our team dealt with over 20 separate missing children throughout the day. The majority of which being in the space of a 3 hour window, this afternoon.

All of which, we’re reunited safe and well with their families.

Whilst no one intentionally loses their children, this highlights that it can easily happen at the beach with busy crowds.

We offer FREE wristbands for families. You can write your contact details on them and tell your children to come to us if you are lost. We can then give you a call and reunite you both straight away!

(It also gives children a nudge to think about losing you in the first place!)
