**GRANT NEWS**

Projects in Swale can receive funding from their local councillor to help them make a difference in their community!

We have reopened the member grant scheme with Β£47,000 being available to support small-scale, local community projects.

Last year’s grants helped purchase things like; a community kitchen’s beekeeping equipment, a scout group’s climbing wall, public defibrillators, a non-profit’s therapeutic art supplies, a museum’s display cabinets and a day centres’ interactive projector.

Councillors also used the scheme to fund events such as advice, dementia and empowerment coffee mornings, carnivals, Christmas light switch on days, pride, an archaeological roadshow and a Christmas lunch for people experiencing loneliness.

June 8th is the start of Carers Week 2026.

We are fortunate to have amazing emergency service and charity staff and volunteers that positively contribute to improving our daily lives and supporting us when we need them most. ❀️

But we also have a large and diverse group of Carers that through choice or circumstance commit their time, energy and love to looking after friends, neighbours or family members in order that they can have the dignity and daily enjoyment that they deserve.

With the help of Neighbourly and Sainsbury's and our excellent partners and volunteers at Heather House Community Cafe we are offering a free hot drink and sweet treat for all carers during National Carers Week to say Thankyou for all you do.

Simply pop in, let the staff know that you are a Carer before placing your order - then sit down and relax whilst we get that order ready for you.
