UPDATE ON SHEPPEY CROSSING

Yesterday an inspection found a fault on the Sheppey Crossing requiring a part to be replaced. One lane is closed however the rest of the crossing is open as usual.

The part has been secured an it will be replaced tomorrow. The crossing will remain open all day, and the closed lane is expected to open by 9pm.

I have spoken to National Highways today to ensure all work will be carried out as expected, and will be speaking to the Minister next week to discuss why we have had two failures in the past month, and how we can prevent these issues in the future.

I will post any updates as I receive them.

Lots of people attended the Swale Police Community Day including lots of associated services. Labour Cllr Tim Gibson and other labour councillors attended along with over 1000 members of the public. Special thanks goes to the Kent Police band who made their first appearance at the event and showed the real variety of community support on offer. Brilliant also to also see a strong showing for our police cadets: link is below

I know that what matters for families is not just getting by, but being able to enjoy time together without worrying about the next bill.

Thanks to Labour, every child aged 5-15 in England will travel free on buses, with unlimited journeys, no registration required, and no cost to families.

And we are slashing VAT on summer activities too - from cinemas to museums to soft play centres, plus kids’ meals in restaurants.
