It's Folk Week- and amongst the visitors there are regularly a few who ask for money and who may, or may not, be sleeping rough.

Gateway advises the following;

- it is not advisable or helpful to give money to people who may have addiction problems.
-there are ways to get constructive help, benefits and even housing solutions to established rough sleepers.
-bear in mind that such help from bodies like Gateway may be refused because cash without strings is preferred - for obvious reasons.

If you see someone who is in distress, and who may be a danger to themselves or others, or who is obviously seriously ill, call the emergency services.

If you are concerned about someone contact us, or send a message to Streetlink streetlink.my.site.com

Have a great Folk Week,

The Gateway Team

StreetLink exists to help end rough sleeping by enabling members of the public to connect people sleeping rough with the local services that can support them.
