PLEASE HELP 🙏

✨️ We have hundreds of patients in our care at the moment and we are going through loads of supplies.

😲 Baby birds need feeding every 15-30 minutes, depending on the age and species and mammals need support feeding consistently throughout the day. As you can imagine that involves a lot of food, cleaning supplies and time to get through them all.

😍 If you are able to drop off or send items to us we would be so grateful 🙏

We now have a few hoglets in our care. 🦔

🤩 Our youngest hoglets are now starting to open their eyes and walk around. At this young age they are being hand reared and fed every couple of hours.

✨️ Once they can feed themselves they are gradually weaned onto a solid diet. They do like to make a mess of their food and get it all over their faces.

🍼 Hedgehogs are lactose intolerant, meaning they should never be fed dairy milk or milk alternatives. Instead they are given a special formula.

🏨 These hoglets will be the first of many to arrive in our care this summer and will be reared alongside dozens of other wildlife orphans, with the hope of returning them back to the wild.

Happy National Pigeon Day! 🕊️

🤍 Today, we celebrate one of the world's most misunderstood birds. Pigeons have been loyal companions to humans for thousands of years.

✨️ Pigeons are remarkably intelligent and hardy birds, capable of recognising individual human faces, navigating hundreds of miles and becoming war heroes.

🖤 While pigeons have served humanity faithfully for centuries, life can be incredibly challenging for them in the wild today.

🏨 We care for hundreds of pigeons each year. Many arrive due to nest disturbances, diseases, car interactions, road traffic collisions, targeted cruelty or natural predation.

🐥🐤 These 2 little young pigeons are recovering in our care after their nest was destroyed and they were found alone on the ground. They are doing well and kept in good company with our other young pigeons.

We now have a few hoglets in our care. 🦔

🤩 Our youngest hoglets are now starting to open their eyes and walk around. At this young age they are being hand reared and fed with a special mammal milk formula every couple of hours.

✨️ Once they can feed themselves they are gradually weaned onto a solid diet. They do like to make a mess of their food and get it all over their faces.

🏨 These hoglets will be the first of many to arrive in our care this summer and will be reared alongside dozens of other wildlife orphans, with the hope of returning them back to the wild.

To provide this special care we need your help

🥰 We are thrilled to partner with The Big Give once again to launch our match funding appeal, helping us continue to care for hedgehogs in need.

🤎 To take part in the campaign, we need to raise £1,450 in pledged match funding. With this in mind, we are inviting generous hedgehog lovers to pledge to make a donation towards this target.

😲 Essentially this match funding will be used to double the donations raised when the fundraising campaign goes live in December, allowing us to unlock additional funding.

✨️ The minimum pledge amount is £100, as set by TBG. These pledges must be made by August but do not need to be fulfilled until later in the year giving pledgers an opportunity to fundraise with friends and family or set aside the funds. Donors will have the opportunity to donate any value they wish and have it matched, when the campaign goes live in December.

These dear little dishevelled birds are recovering from cat interactions. 🐦

🏨💊 They are all on antibiotics to treat any infection and recovering in our bird ward. There were no serious injuries so hopefully in time they will fully recover.

🙏 It is important to get veterinary treatment quickly if you have found a bird involved in a cat or dog interaction. Infection can set in very fast so the sooner they receive treatment the greater chance the birds have of survival.

✨️ Even if there are no visible wounds or signs of distress there may be a chance of species later down the line if no treatment is provided.

We are so lucky to be supported by some generous local businesses and individuals recently

✨️😍 A huge thank you to the following people, businesses and organisations for choosing to raise awareness and vital funds for wildlife in our care.

💚 Waitrose Chichester donated £1,000 following their green token awards

❤️ Emsworth Loves Local have selected us for their charity of the year. They will be running charity events throughout the year. Their next event is on 20th June at Emsworth Methodist Church.

🤎 Westbourne House School have nominated us as one of their 2 year charity partners. The students will be organising epic fundraising events over the coming months.

✨️ The employees at Interbay UK OSB Group did some team volunteering with us last month and kindly donated £500 as part of their community giving back initiative.

🐿 Our sincerest thanks go to Beach Dubbin’ and Adventures with Arthur Bear. Last year, Laura and Rhys experienced the unimaginable heartbreak of unexpectedly losing their beautiful little boy, Arthur. Following a fundraiser event they donated thouands of pounds to various charities including £500 to Brent Lodge Wildlife Hospital.

"Known affectionately as “Squirrel” by those closest to him, Arthur had such a love for birds, hedgehogs, and wildlife. Supporting Brent Lodge, who rescue and care for injured wildlife of all kinds, felt like the perfect tribute to that gentle love of nature".

🦔 The team at Waterlooville Hedgehog Rescue sadly closed their rescue and kindly donated the remaining funds to Hedgehog rescue centres including £1,790 to Brent Lodge to help hedgehogs in our care.

🦡🦊 Bare Kind generously donated 10% of their fox and badger sock profits to us. Last year they raised £368.01 to help badgers and foxes in our care.

🙏🦆🦊🐦‍⬛🦅🦔✨️ We are incredibly grateful for all of the support from businesses and individuals. If you, your school or business would like to nominate us and raise vital donations for our charity then we would love to hear from you.

Our volunteer vet has been busy this weekend helping a couple of pigeon casualties.

🩶🖤 A feral pigeon was brought in after a nasty predictor attack, one of the wounds was fairly deep so our vet cleaned and stapled the wound to help with healing. We also administered antibiotics to cover any infection.

🐥 A baby wood pigeon also came in with a leg deformity so our vet has taped and splinted his legs to correct the splayed position. In time this will help him perch and walk better, hopefully making him more comfortable too.

🏨🕊 We care for over one thousand pigeons each year, and sadly, some arrive in very poor condition with an uncertain prognosis. It was especially rewarding to help these two pigeons, giving them the best possible chance of recovery and, we hope, a successful return to the wild once their treatment is complete.
