On 2nd September 2026, PCSO 6893 ROBERTS carried out speed monitoring in Buildwas village after a series of reports of speeding taking place in the village.

A man has been handed a 20-week prison sentence for being in breach of his Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO).

David Severn, of no fixed abode, was found guilty of breaching of a CBO at Kidderminster Magistrates Court on Saturday (29 August) after he was caught acting in an aggressive manner and making threats towards people in Shrewsbury town centre.

The 46-year-old was given a three-year CBO in September 2023 due to anti-social behaviour in the town centre, and as part of the order he was prohibited from acting in an aggressive manner or making threats towards any member of the public in the town centre.

Officers received reports of him in Barker Street acting in this manner on Friday (28 August), where he was located by officers and quickly arrested and later charged.

Severn appeared before magistrates on Saturday where he was handed 20 weeks in prison for breaching the CBO.

PCSO Joseph Bradely said: "Criminal Behaviour Orders are put in place to protect the public from persistent anti-social and threatening behaviour, and we will take robust action against anyone who chooses to ignore them.

"Severn was subject to clear conditions designed to prevent the kind of behaviour that causes fear, distress and disruption within our town centre. Despite this, he chose to act aggressively and make threats towards members of the public, leaving us with no option but to take enforcement action.

"Thanks to the swift response from our town centre officers, Severn was quickly located, arrested and brought before the courts.

"This sentence demonstrates that breaches of court orders will not be tolerated. We are committed to ensuring Shrewsbury remains a safe and welcoming place for residents, businesses and visitors, and we will continue to work proactively to deal with those whose behaviour has a negative impact on our communities."

A man has pleaded guilty to several offences, including dangerous driving, after he was caught travelling the wrong way on the A5 in Shropshire.

Adam Roberts, of Glasyn in Wrexham, appeared at Kidderminster Magistrates Court on Saturday (29 August) where he was charged with the following offences:
- Dangerous driving
- Possession on a class B drug
- Three counts of using a motor vehicle without third party insurance
- Four counts of driving while disqualified
- Fail to stop
- Fail to provide specimen for analysis - vehicle driver
- Fraudulently use a registration mark/ registration document
- Theft from store

On Thursday (27 August) officers indicated for a BMW to stop before the driver then made off from police. The vehicle then travelled the wrong way along the A5 eastbound carriageway from Dobbies towards Emstry roundabout in Shrewsbury.

Officers were able to stop the vehicle using a stinger, before Roberts fled the scene on foot. However, he was quickly located by officers and arrested and subsequently charged with eight offences.

Roberts pleaded guilty to all charges and has been remanded in custody. He is due to be sentenced at Shrewsbury Crown Court at a later date.

Sergeant Kully Singh, from the Operations Patrol Unit said: "Roberts showed a complete disregard for the safety of other road users through his reckless and dangerous actions. Driving the wrong way along a major carriageway is an incredibly dangerous act that could and it is sheer luck that no one was harmed.

"Roberts not only ignored repeated opportunities to stop for officers, but also chose to continue driving despite being disqualified and uninsured. His actions placed everyone using the road at unnecessary risk and demonstrated a blatant disregard for the law.

"Our officers acted quickly to bring this incident to a safe conclusion and prevent the danger from escalating further.

"We will not tolerate this kind of behaviour on our roads. Anyone who chooses to drive dangerously and put the public at risk can expect to be arrested and brought before the courts."

Illegal E-Scooters Seized in Shrewsbury Town Centre

One of the concerns regularly raised with us by residents, businesses and visitors are the use of electric scooters in pedestrian areas of Shrewsbury Town Centre.

At approximately 5:15pm on 27th August, PC Bourne was patrolling the town centre when he located four children riding on two electric scooters.

Following enquiries, both scooters were seized.

We understand the concerns of those who feel unsafe when scooters are ridden through crowded areas, particularly where there are families, elderly residents and people with mobility needs in the area. We have listened to your concerns and will continue to take action where offences are identified.

⚠️ Did you know?

• Privately owned e-scooters are classed as motor vehicles.
• They cannot legally be ridden on roads, pavements, parks, shopping centres or other public places.
• They can only be used on private land with the permission of the landowner.
• They may be seized by police if used illegally in public places.

Officers have arrested two people following a warrant at an address in Shrewsbury this morning (Tuesday 25 August).

A man, aged 37, and a woman aged 38, were arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of controlled drugs following a warrant at an address on Cross Hill.

When officers from Shrewsbury's Town Centre Team (TCT) entered the properties they discovered suspected class A and class B drugs, as well as illicit prescription medication, steroids and weight loss injections.

Both people remain in police custody as enquiries continue.

Sergeant Tom Atkinson, from Shrewsbury's TCT, said: "This morning's warrant demonstrates our continued commitment to tackling the supply of illegal drugs and disrupting organised crime in our communities.

"The discovery of suspected class A and B drugs, illicit prescription medication, steroids and weight loss injections shows the importance of this ongoing work and the proactive action our officers take to protect the public. We will continue to target those involved in criminal activity and pursue every available line of enquiry.

"Information from the public plays a vital role in helping us identify and disrupt organised crime, and I would encourage anyone with concerns about drug-related activity or other criminality in their area to report it to us so we can take appropriate action."

We are aware of a planned protest and counter-protest taking place in Shrewsbury today (Saturday 22 August) and members of the public can expect to see an increased police presence.

The public have a right to peaceful protest, and officers are working with organisers and partners to support a safe gathering for those attending and the wider community.

SENTENCED | A man has been handed a 34-week prison sentence for being in breach of his Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO).

Scott Mills, of no fixed abode, was found guilty of breaching of a CBO at Telford Magistrates Court today (Thursday 20 August) after he was caught drinking alcohol in Shrewsbury town centre.

The 53-year-old was given a five-year CBO in April 2023 due to anti-social behaviour, and as part of the CBO Mills is not allowed to drink alcohol in public areas in the town centre. Officers noticed him in Pride Hill yesterday (Wednesday 19 August) where he was quickly arrested and charged.

PCSO Joseph Bradley said: "Criminal Behaviour Orders are put in place to tackle persistent offending and help protect our communities. Mills was fully aware of the conditions of his order but chose to ignore them.

"We will continue to take action against those who breach these orders and commit offences that impact residents, businesses and visitors in Shrewsbury town centre."
