Join Us — Become an Adult Volunteer

Every cadet’s journey depends on adults willing to give their time. As a volunteer with your local detachment, you’ll help young people build confidence, leadership, and life skills through adventurous training, fieldcraft, and structured challenge, often gaining as much from the experience as the cadets do.

You don’t need a military background. Detachments need people from all walks of life, instructors, admin support, drivers, first aiders, and mentors. Full training is provided, and many volunteers go on to gain nationally recognised qualifications along the way.

Whether you can spare a couple of hours a week or more, your local unit will find a role that fits. Come along to a parade night, meet the team, and see what a difference you could make.

Good morning, everyone!

And just like that, Camp 2026 has come to an end.

The day kicked off with energy and purpose as cadets and CFAVs ensured the camp was left spotless and ready for handover. Stores and weapons were securely packed away, marking the final operational task of what has been an incredible week.

As the coaches began to depart, we waved a fond farewell and wished everyone a safe journey home.

Finally, an enormous thank you to all our Cadet Force Adult Volunteers (CFAVs). Your tireless support, passion, and willingness to give up your time make this organisation what it is. We truly could not do it without you. You help deliver unforgettable experiences and shape futures, thank you from all of us.

Here’s to another unforgettable year, and we’ll see you at Camp 2027!

Good evening, everyone!

Today saw the county come together once again for the final full day of Camp 2026.

The day centred around the County Gun Run Competition and preparations for the End of Camp Parade, led by the County Commandant and attended by our honoured guests, Lord and Lady Lingfield, along with former County Padre David Andrews, now a Flight Lieutenant and full-time RAF Officer.

It was a proud occasion for everyone as promotions were awarded, commendations presented, and the achievements of our cadets and CFAVs celebrated.

A huge congratulations to Wellington Detachment, who were announced as this year's Lucas Tooth Shield winners, a fantastic and thoroughly well-deserved achievement! Congratulations also to everyone who received an award or recognition today. Your dedication, commitment, and hard work have certainly not gone unnoticed.

This evening gave the cadets a well-earned opportunity to relax, enjoying a film at the camp cinema with plenty of popcorn and snacks.

Today has been a fantastic day of celebration for all our cadets and CFAVs, recognising the effort, teamwork, and resilience shown throughout the week.

Tonight is our final night before we depart in the morning. Your beloved children will soon be returning home, no doubt exhausted and ready for some well-earned sleep, but also bringing with them countless happy memories, new friendships, and experiences that will last a lifetime.

Stay tuned for our final update tomorrow. Until then, enjoy one last evening of peace and quiet before the post-camp admin begins!
