Join us at Shrewsbury Flaxmill Maltings for fun family activities!

Spiders, Spooks and Ratsss

Make you very own haunted decorations for Halloween. Get yourself ready for the scary season by making a spiral spook, a super spider, or a splendid rat to take home with you.

You can also participate all week in a special Rat Trail in the exhibition. Follow the knitted rats in the exhibition to learn about Dorothy Clayden, the lady rat killer at Shrewsbury Flaxmill Maltings in World War Two.

These unique rats will also be for sale in the shop while stocks last.

Craft activities

Thursday 29 October to Saturday 31 October.
10am to 2pm, Free Drop in Sessions
Children aged 2 to 12. Older Siblings welcome.
Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Everyday from Saturday 24 October to Sunday 1 November
10am to 4pm. Usual exhibition prices apply.

It's Skyscraper Day!

Commemorating, Louis Sullivan, the architect of many of the world's first skyscrapers.

We have been celebrating with full special tours of the Jubilee Tower. You can still come in enjoy the exhibition and an afternoon tea in the Flaxmill Cafe, or book a tour for a future date.

Join retired archivist Penny Ward for a free Spotlight Talk on Saturday August 29th.

Penny will be talking about the “Out-Relief” Investigations 1818 -1819 : A modest notebook in Shropshire Archives which provides a rare glimpse into the lives of the people of the Flaxmill and their neighbours.

Our special Skyscraper Day Jubilee Towers are very nearly full. If you have a ticket and are unable to come, please return your ticket so that someone else can have a chance to enjoy the tour

Celebrate Skyscraper Day by claiming the Jubilee Tower to see the views from the very top of the site, one of the highest vantage points in Shrewsbury.

Tours will be free for children and EH members. A special offer for the days.

They will run on Wednesday 26 and Thursday 27 August, and on Wednesday 2 and Thursday 3 September. Booking highly recommended to avoid disappointment.
