🎨 Exploring Portraits | Year 8 🎨

What a fantastic start to the term from our Year 8 artists πŸ‘

Year 8 have been busy exploring portraits, developing their observational skills, experimenting with techniques and creating some truly wonderful outcomes. ✏️

We’ve been so impressed by the creativity, care and effort they have shown already - and we can’t wait to see how their work continues to develop!

🌟 Well done, Year 8! 🌟

⚽️ PROUD OF OUR YEAR 10 FOOTBALL TEAM! ⚽️

Our Year 10 football team played their first fixture of the year this evening against Oakley, narrowly losing 2–1 in a hard-fought game.

While the result didn’t quite go our way, we couldn’t be prouder of the way our young men represented the school. Throughout a challenging match, they showed maturity, composure and respect.

They were an absolute credit to themselves and to our school, demonstrating exactly the values we expect from our students both on and off the pitch. πŸ‘

We are incredibly proud to have such responsible young men representing our school. Well done, boys - a fantastic example to others and a performance to be proud of! πŸ’™βš½οΈ

πŸ”₯πŸ§ͺ Bunsen burners at the ready!

Last week, our Year 7 students got hands-on in Science as they learned how to safely set up and use a Bunsen burner.

They did a fantastic job developing their practical skills, following safety procedures and getting to grips with an essential piece of laboratory equipment.

A great start to practical Science in Year 7! πŸ‘πŸ”₯

🌟 STUDENT SPOTLIGHT: Equestrian Success! πŸ΄πŸ†

A huge congratulations to the talented Shipston Equestrian Team following their fantastic performances at the NSEA Hickstead Grassroots Championship in August!

🐴 Esmae (Y9) riding Sampson and Monty
🐴 Isla (Y9) riding Miss Olive
🐴 Sophie (Y10) riding Harry (Smartie)

The team rode brilliantly throughout the competition, with all their hard work paying off with some fantastic results:

πŸ… 7th place in the 60cm
πŸ… 5th place in the 70cm

We are incredibly proud of Shipston High students Esmae, Isla and Sophie - and, of course, their wonderful horses - for representing their team so brilliantly. A huge well done to you all, what a fantastic achievement! πŸ‘πŸ΄

Interested in joining the Shipston Equestrian Team? The manager, Libby, would love to hear from any pupils who already ride and would like to get involved. If you let your form tutor know we can get your details to her.

🍴 Exciting news from Shipston High! 🍴

We’re creating a Shipston High Family Cookbook, and we’d love our whole school community to be part of it! πŸ’™

Students, parents, carers and families are invited to share a recipe that means something special to them. It could be a family favourite passed down through generations, a celebration dish, a recipe reflecting your culture or heritage, or simply a meal connected to a treasured memory. πŸ‘©β€πŸ³

πŸ“– Along with your recipe, you can share the story behind it and a photo of the finished dish. The completed cookbook will celebrate the wonderful food, families, cultures and stories that make up our Shipston High community.

What an incredible trip! 🎭✨

Yesterday our Drama department were lucky enough to catch one of the FINAL performances of Death Note: The Musical at the Barbican in London - and it did not disappoint!

Based on the hugely popular manga and anime, this world-premiere production had just 50 performances over the summer, so we feel VERY lucky to have been there! πŸ™Œ

The staging. The music. The performances. The atmosphere. πŸ”₯ Absolutely INCREDIBLE from start to finish - a total spectacle!

And with amazing seats in the stalls, we were right in the heart of it all. Hands down one of the BEST things we’ve seen this year! πŸ‘πŸŽΆπŸŽ

🎀 Our first Karaoke Club session was a huge success yesterday 🎡

Pupils took to the stage to showcase their singing talents, performing everything from High School Musical favourites to songs from Six: The Musical. It was wonderful to see so much confidence, energy, and enjoyment. We can't wait for the next one.

if you're interested in joining, it takes place every Wednesday lunchtime in the Music room, everyone is welcome!

🍽️ Year 11 Food Presentation Challenge! 🍫

Today our students were challenged to design and present a plate using a Tunnock’s Teacake, paired with accompaniments of their choice.

Once the dishes were complete, students discussed and evaluated each other’s creations, considering presentation, creativity and overall ex*****on. They then ranked the dishes against Pass, Merit, Distinction and Distinction* criteria. ⭐

This practical lesson encouraged creativity, critical thinking and peer evaluation, helping students develop key skills in preparation for their Year 11 exam brief and final dish cook.

A great opportunity to experiment, evaluate and think like a food professional! πŸ‘©β€πŸ³πŸ‘¨β€πŸ³

πŸ“£ YOUR FUTURE. YOUR VIEWS. YOUR SAY.πŸ—£οΈ

The Big Future Survey is your chance to have your say about the things that matter to young people and what you want the future to look like. 🌍✨

Your experiences, opinions and ideas matter. By taking a few minutes to complete the survey, you can help make sure young people’s voices are heard when decisions about the future are being made.

πŸ’ What matters to you?
πŸš€ What opportunities do you want to see?
🌟 What would make the future better for young people?
