Built by Sir Walter Raleigh in 1594 and the stately home of the Digby family since 1617, Sherborne Castle is a Historic House which reflects a glorious variety of decorative styles from over 400 years of English history. 'Capability' Brown created the 50-acre lake in 1753 and gave Sherborne the very latest in landscape gardening, with magnificent specimen trees, borders and sweeping lawns in one o

f his finest Lakeland landscapes. Enjoy 42 acres of beautiful gardens and grounds, and experience the beauty, peace and tranquillity of this perfect natural setting. Our Tea Room serves morning coffees, light lunches and delicious afternoon teas. The Gift Shop has a selection of gifts, souvenirs and our very own Sherborne Castle wines. As the sun rises gently over the lake, we wish you all a very Happy Sunday! 💛 What a beautiful time of year to pause, breathe and enjoy the changing landscape.

🍂 Autumn is marching fast upon us, bringing softer light, misty mornings and the first hints of those glorious autumn colours. 🍁 The gardens are beginning their seasonal transformation, while the lake reflects the peaceful beauty of a new day.

🧚‍♂️✨ A view fit for a guardian of the gardens… 🌳💧

Standing proudly on the roof, this wonderfully weathered gargoyle keeps watch over the gardens and lake, with the landscape stretching away towards Pinford Bridge. 🏰🌿

There’s something rather magical about seeing the garden from the perspective of one of its oldest silent observers! 👀✨

🍂💚 Wonderful colours reflected at Sherborne Castle & Gardens 💚🍂

After the long drought of 2026, the little rain we’ve recently had is very welcome indeed! 🌧️💧 The gardens are beginning to show the full richness of autumn, with glorious golden and green tones reflected beautifully in the calm waters of the lake. 🍁🌳✨

There’s something wonderfully peaceful about this time of year — a chance to slow down, breathe deeply and enjoy nature at its best. 🍂🦆
