Hello and welcome to my page.

My name is Vaughan and i am currently the Deputy Mayor for Sherborne.

I live in Sherborne with lovely wife Susan, and our three dogs Monty, Mouse and Bear.

I retired in 2012 whilst working in Singapore and returned to England and to settle down here in Sherborne 2013.

As an International Business Development Director I have acumulated a broad range of management skills with regards to running a business, staffing, planning and personnel and as I just loved living in Sherborne I thought I would put myself up for possible election for the Sherborne Town Council in 2019.

Thankfully 500+ wonderful Sherborne residents either living and or working in the East Ward voted for me and I was then elected as a Town Councillor.

I had never been involved with politics and I had never been involved with local politics in any shape or form.

For the first year on the Town Council I thought it best to listen and to observe as to how the Council machine worked, especially with all of its protocols and rules.

Eventually I started to then become more involved in various elements of the Council and to become involved in the various discussions of each monthly agenda.

My hardest lesson was to be patient and to come to terms with my own frustrations in just trying to get things done!!

I was so used to working with people make decisions, pressing buttons and making things happen , Councils, however, do not operate like this !!!!

Despite my frustrations, I do feel it a great honour to represent the East Ward of Sherborne and a privilege to safeguard our wonderful town and to protect Sherborne.

Further to my time now as a local Sherborne Town Councillor,I now believe that at Town level, politics are of no value and are unnecessary.

The Town Council is more like a board of Directors. Each director / Councillor. making decisions for the good of the Town and not for the good of a political party and not voting against a proposalmerely because it was from an opposing political party.

The Town Council, works best in harmony and with like minded people, and it is for this reason that I have now decided to stand at the next Sherborne Town Council Elections in 2024.

As an indépendant candidate My mission statement being, IN SHERBORNE FOR SHERBORNE!

I trust that you approve of this decision and I hope that I can rely on your vote and that I may then continue my work in looking after Sherborne and doing my utmost for both the residents living in the East Ward and all residents living in Sherborne.

I would also love to hear your views and thoughts with regards to my work as your Town Councillor and also if I can be of any assistance in any matter, so please do feel free to contact me at.
