๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ’œ Standing Together to End Violence Against Women and Girls ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Today, Sergeant Kinsella, PC Smith, and PCSOs Quinn and Hargreaves were proud to attend Redefine Health Club in support of the Stand With Us campaign, helping to raise awareness of violence against women and girls and encouraging important conversations around safety, support, and prevention.

The team spent time engaging with members of the local community, taking part in a fitness class, sharing advice and reassurance, and providing information on personal safety and support services. Officers were also on hand with leaflets, stay-safe items, and campaign merchandise to help spread the message that violence against women and girls has no place in our communities.

๐Ÿค Why is this important?

Preventing violence against women and girls is not something policing can achieve alone. It requires communities, businesses, organisations and individuals to work together to challenge unacceptable behaviour, support victims, and create environments where everyone feels safe.

By attending events like this, we can build trust, listen to concerns, offer support, and demonstrate our commitment to being visible, approachable, and proactive in addressing issues that matter to our communities.

We are already planning further community engagement events and look forward to meeting more residents, businesses and community groups in the coming months. Keep an eye on our social media channels for updates and opportunities to meet your local neighbourhood policing team.

A huge thank you to everyone at Redefine Health Club for welcoming us and supporting this important campaign. Together, we can make a difference.

As part of Rotherham's Operation Duxford on Wednesday, South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue put on a water safety event at Rother Valley Country Park.

As part of the event Police Officers and Police Community Support Officers from the Woodhouse Team went down to get some training on using throw lines to help rescue people in difficulty in the water. This training is vital in helping equip our officers with the knowledge needed should they be deployed to such an incident.

Our thanks to the fire officers who spent the day in the water, allowing us to throw ropes to pull them out.

On Friday 12th June, our Neighbourhood Officers will be holding an event in support of our โ€œStand with usโ€ Campaign, which is our campaign to eradicate Violence Against Women and Girls.

We are asking our communities to stand with us as allies and create spaces where women feel safe.

With this in mind, we are attending at Redefine Body and Mind, Yorkshires largest female only Gym, where we will be on hand to speak to members of the public about online abuse and harassment and to offer advice and tools to help women and girls to stay safe.

Our officers will be available from 9am inside Blend Coffee, located inside the Gym at Holbrook Green, Holbrook Industrial Estate. Please come along and speak to us if you want to learn more about the campaign

You can find more information about our โ€œStand with Usโ€ campaign on the links below.

PROJECT SERVATOR: Our officers could be in any place at any time, and they popped up in Meadowhall on Thursday (4 June).

Officers are specially trained to identify the tell-tale signs that someone may be planning or preparing to commit a criminal act.

On Thursday, two stop and searches were carried out with one resulting in suspected cannabis being seized from a 17-year-old boy.

Our deliberately unpredictable deployments are highly visible but if you see us, it's nothing to be concerned about. We have been carrying them out since the force adopted the tactic in 2022 and deployments are not based on any intelligence about a threat to a specific area.

Come and say hello when you come across us as we'll always be happy to explain the reason for our presence to you.

There's more about Project Servator, including how you can help us, in the comments. ๐Ÿ‘‡

๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™€๏ธ Did you meet some of our local Neighbourhood Policing Team in Richmond Park on Wednesday? ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™€๏ธ

What an incredible community event it turned out to be. We had the opportunity to engage with so many members of the public, listen to local concerns, gather valuable intelligence, and work alongside our communities to help make our neighbourhoods safer. Community tensions and issues were raised, and we will continue working closely with our partner agencies to find long-term solutions.

One moment that truly highlighted the importance of visible community policing was when a distressed parent approached officers directly at the event to report their 9-year-old child missing in the park. Our officers immediately deployed on foot, speaking with members of the public and searching the surrounding area. Thankfully, within a short period of time, the child was safely located and reunited with his mum - much to her relief.

This is exactly what neighbourhood policing is all about:
โœ… Being visible;
โœ… Being approachable;
โœ… Being part of the community;
โœ… Providing reassurance when people need us most.

We also spent time speaking with children and teenagers about personal safety, including the dangers of open water and cold-water shock following recent tragic incidents across the country. These conversations are so important, especially after the heartbreaking loss of a 14-year-old child in South Yorkshire earlier this week.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along, spoke with us, shared concerns, and supported the event. Together, we continue building stronger, safer communities.

More community engagement events are already being planned - keep an eye on this page for further updates and details.
