So this week saw the start of the NPCC national police chief councils, 2 wheel campaign.
This operation is aimed at some of the most vulnerable road users. The hope is that it takes vehicles off the road to prevent accidents and also drives up awareness of what is legal and what is not.
Yesterday we were posted to Doncaster to assist with this campaign.
Before I go on, however, I would just like to pause and say a heartfelt thanks to all our fans, that came out and gave us a good old chivvy up of abuse wherever we went.
Our hearts were bursting with all the love you showed us. From aggressive waving 😉 to just full on, full throttled words of encouragement. Your Snap Chats must be brimming.
I think we counted 12, separate occasions of fans, just randomly showing us some love.
In fact, I think we must mention two adult individuals, who clearly thought a good time on a Saturday night was hanging out on a street corner with a can of beer abusing cops, top job lads, the future is bright.
Anyway, whilst in Rotherham first off, we stopped the adult rider of an e scooter. Yes not crime of the century, but this is the target of the operation. The scooter was just being seized when his friend turned up recording his encounter, rolling along on his e scooter. The irony !
After being stopped and a bit of whats your real name, no seriously stop lying to us whats your real name, we got to the bottom of this content hungry chaps ID and for his pains, he lost his scooter and will be off to court.
Following this, we had just got to Donnie when we found ourselves around the corner from an RTC, road traffic collision, where a male had run from the offending car.
As we were turning up the offending male had decided he would come back for his car.
Being somewhat spannered, he had not computed that this may not be the best of ideas.
After checking his wrist size for the loops of love, he was arrested for driving unfit, dangerous driving and other traffic matters.
His walk to the police car was comical at best with us propping him up at the front back and sides. To you, to me !
In custody he blew 112, the legal limit is 35. What is more scary is that his sat nav was set to go on the A1. Wow 👌
Thankfully no one was seriously hurt. In the front of the car was an open car of DEAD MANS FINGERS RUM. Hmm think on that, what could have been.
Whilst on this incident, we would like to thank yet more people, who for some bizzare reason could not help filming the scene of the collision on their phones. I dont just mean one of two.
Who are you filming this for we would love to know your morbid motivations or is it that you love us that much you want a little cinematic moment to look back on fondly.
Next off just around the corner one of the team had gone to fetch some keys for a car, when he spotted a scooter parked up running, with no number outside a shop.
As he pulled up behind it a rather startled, church going, fun loving young tyke, all bright eyed, stepped out of the shop with his safety balaclava half rolled up his head.
The young Usain Bolt was tripped by a quick leg out technique, but his generic brand trainers were always going to be quicker than enduro boots.
The motorcycle was, ID as stolen 5 days ago and was already in a bit of a mess. The young scally was was clearly into DIY with a pair of bolt croppers under the seat.
Lovely pic of your face on CCTV Bruce, see ya later !
After waiting for recovery we decided to start heading back as we were already going to be late off.
As we were coming back through Rotherham along Doncaster Road, we spotted an illegal e motorcycle, doing about 30mph, with the rider not pedalling.
After following him for a short while he was stopped by some of our team a little further up the road.
Anticipating that he would try to make off, his exit on the kerb was blocked off.
Seeing the gig was up he gave it legs down the road and was witnessed throwing a bag over a fence.
A short time later he was detained. The 13 year old rider was in possession of what we suspect to be class A, class B and a quantity of cash.
The bag that had been thrown contained 14 individual bags of suspected class A.
At the home address more drugs were found.
The rider was arrested for possession with intent to supply, possession and other traffic matters. The bike was seized.
All in all after a 13 hour day we finally turned off the light in the office and went home.
I am sure we will be criticised for doing our job again. Seems the norm nowadays, good old police bashing has become a UK pass time 😁
