Are you planning to travel between Shaftesbury and Blandford? We’re carrying out a year‑long project to prevent landslips on the C13 at Dinah’s Hollow. As a result, some roads are closed and diversions are in place. Thank you to everyone who has been following the signs, especially with recent flooding and wider disruption making travel more difficult. We appreciate your patience.

Please follow the diversion signs rather than your sat nav. A small number of drivers have been ignoring road closed signs - this may be because sat navs are still directing traffic through the area. We have asked the companies to update their routing, but this is outside our control.

To help residents in Melbury Abbas, Iwerne Minster and Fontmell Magna, please:
• switch off your sat nav when approaching the area
• only follow the signed diversion route
• do not ignore road closed signs, as you may get stuck and cause disruption on narrow lanes

Some people have asked for extra signage. We have added more where possible, but too many signs can cause clutter, cause confusion and make roads narrower. We’re monitoring traffic and signage and will keep adapting arrangements where we can.

We have received and attend multiple calls this morning following roads and properties affected by flooding.

Please do not attempt to drive through flood water, even if you think it’s not that deep.

Check your route before you travel. Your Local Authority website and the Highways should be able to confirm where some road closures are in place.

If your home has been affected by flooding, please visit our website on what to do www.dwfire.org.uk/flooding/

We’re currently dealing with a fire in an industrial premises in Shillingstone. There are six fire crews and our specialist water carrier on the scene and we are working to bring the fire under control as quickly as possible. We are also working with the electricity board, who have had to isolate electric to help us in the dealing with this incident. This is having an effect on the village.
