Emmetts Garden NT

Emmetts Garden NT National Trust Edwardian hillside garden with views across the Weald of Kent. Children's trails during school holidays. Wild Play Area near Old Stables Tea Room.

A Garden for all seasons; come and enjoy a peaceful woodland walk, learn about the Garden’s fascinating history, or search out some of the rarest plant species to be found in the UK. Left forgotten at the beginning of the century, Emmetts was saved from the brink of destruction by the Trust who, since then, have striven to restore it to its former glory. The nearby ruins of what was once Weardale

Manor and its exotic Gardens are testament to how close Emmetts came to being lost forever. From tales of intrepid plant hunters, to breathtaking panoramic views over the Weald of Kent, Emmetts has everything to offer anyone that wishes to come and see.

Wildflower meadow at Emmetts Garden.
Since the 1930s, the UK has lost 97% of its wildflower meadows.
When the wildflowers vanish, so do the pollinators, birds, bats and hedgehogs.
Here at Emmetts Garden, we're working to increase this rare habitat to bring diversity to the wildlife in the garden.

Wildflowers in the meadow include:
cowslip, primrose, yellow rattle, birdsfoot trefoil, oxeye daisy, vipers bugloss, common toadflax, field scabious, wild carrot, red clover, lesser knapweed, pignut, meadow buttercup, cats ear.

💚 Help us protect the wildflower meadow by sticking to the mowed paths and not picking the flowers and grasses.
