Apologies for our lack of posts recently. We have had technical difficulties with social media, changes within Go Wild Scotland and Mauldsheugh Community Woodland.

The weather has improved in the Scottish Borders, we have had sunshine and increasing temperatures which have resulted in Mauldsheugh looking great. The wildlife is continuing to do its own thing. People in the community are enjoying lovely walks in the sunshine, watching and listening to the birds, and sitting enjoying the fresh air.

For any new followers here, we have a nature trail, bird hide and pond as well as a few seats along the way to let you rest if you need to. The path is also wheelchair and pushchair friendly.

Our project at Mauldsheugh Wood Community Wildlife Project is coming along great. It will be named The Greig Lothian Community Woodland Hub after local lad Greig Lothian who sadly passed away in July 2023. His family has raised most of the funding from gofundme, fundraisers and local business support.

All the flooring is down inside, guttering on, and now the rafters for the deck. When complete this will make the building accessible for everyone, including wheelchair users. We are planning to build a work bench in the workshop side. this will allow us to run basic woodworking sessions. The other side will be made welcoming for all types of user groups. We hope to run sessions and activities for many different user groups across the community. We welcome contact from any groups looking to book sessions or ideas for new sessions once the building is complete.

If ever you needed a reason to visit the Scottish Borders this is it.

At our community wildlife project at Mauldsheugh in Selkirk, the wild flowers are blooming and the pathways lined with greenery.

The woodpecker is appearing more often, as are the jays, the heron, and so many other birds at the bird hide.

Mauldsheugh offers a lovely peaceful wander, ample seating along the pathways and at the pond. Or have a wander down to the river. Bring a coffee and enjoy the peace and birdsong.
