Good Morning and Happy Saturday Everyone,

Earlier in the week we shared that volunteers Chris and Olivia had been away training and successfully completed their Crew Emergency Procedures Course.

Well another dedicated volunteer Alex has also been away training, he attended RNLI HQ Poole the RNLI College to complete his Inshore Lifeboat Seamanship Course.

The Seamanship course is specifically designed to our fleet of vessels, it covers the following elements plus many more.
✅️ - Anchoring
✅️ - Veering
✅️ - Towing
✅️ - Mooring & Berthing

This course is an essential part of the volunteer crew members ongoing training alongside all the training we do at Station. RNLI Seahouses Lifeboat Station Launch Authority and Training Coordinator Ian said,

"This a great course for our volunteers to attend and expand their knowledge and experience. This will help Alex progress through the rest of his Tier 1 & 2 training"

Good Afternoon & Happy Wednesday! 🌊

It's been a busy few weeks at RNLI Seahouses Lifeboat Station, filled with training launches, event planning, and prepping for the Summer Season.

This week, two of our incredible volunteers, Chris & Olivia, headed down to RNLI HQ in Poole for the Crew Emergency Procedures Course (commonly known as 'Sea Survival') RNLI College. This is arguably one of our volunteers' favourite courses due to its challenging and exciting content.

During the course, crew members learn how to:
• Safely enter the water from height in full kit.
• Re-right a capsized D-Class or Atlantic lifeboat.
• Master the safe use of pyrotechnics.
• Along with several other elements and theoretical training.

These are critical elements of their training, ensuring safety and operational competence are always at the highest standard. Both Chris and Olivia passed with flying colors—we are incredibly proud of them! 👏

Volunteer Lifeboat Training Coordinator Ian said: "The ongoing training our volunteers take part in is a reflection of their hard work and commitment. This training is essential to support our mission of Saving Lives at Sea."

Very exciting times for some of our newer crew members, down RNLI HQ at the RNLI College to complete their Crew Emergency Procedures Course. Good luck everyone 💙🧡

A warm welcome to all crews arriving at the College for training this week! 👋

After last week's glorious heatwave, the weather has certainly taken a turn, and we're sadly swapping sunshine for rain, with a rather unsettled week ahead. 🌧️🌦️

Despite the forecast, it's set to be another busy and productive week across the College, with courses including Casualty Care, Crew Emergency Procedures, ILB Maintainer, Lifeguard Development, Seamanship, and many more.

Good Morning Everyone,

This is me Ollie, NEWLY QUALIFIED TIER 2 INSHORE LIFEBOAT CREW MEMBER!!!
Yesterday we launched our D-Class Inshore Lifeboat on exercise I was assessed by an independent RNLI assessor Matt, having committed to hours of theoretical and practical training afloat.
I am also our Station Social Media Officer and newly appointed Lifeboat Press Officer. 📸 📰 🎥

📟 ILB LAUNCH ALERT - 2 INCIDENTS 📟

Yesterday at 12:07pm, the pagers sounded after HM Coastguard requested the launch of our D-Class Inshore Lifeboat.

As our volunteer crew assembled at station, information was relayed that 2 adults and 2 children had become cut off by the tide in their vehicle on Holy Island Causeway.

The crew made best speed towards the Causeway alongside other emergency services, including Berwick Coastguard Rescue Team. Around half a mile from the scene, our volunteers received the stand down message after the casualties safely reached the refuge box, where they would later be recovered by Coastguard once the tide had ebbed.

While returning towards Seahouses Harbour, the crew then overheard via VHF radio that a RIB (Rigid Inflatable Boat) with 6 persons on board was suffering mechanical failure and anchored off Bamburgh Beach.

Our D-Class was immediately tasked to attend, assess the situation and assist if required.

Once on scene, the Helm carried out the necessary assessment and determined the safest option was to establish a tow. The vessel had completely lost engine function and, if left at anchor, could have posed a risk to other maritime users. The casualty vessel was therefore safely towed back into Seahouses Harbour.

We’d also like to highlight the excellent actions of those on board the RIB. All persons were wearing lifejackets and were equipped with a VHF radio — both essential pieces of safety equipment when heading out on the water.

Most importantly, they did the right thing by calling for assistance early. We would always rather launch and not be needed than receive no call at all.

A reminder to always check the tides, carry the correct safety equipment and respect the sea. 💙🧡

Yesterday was our Summer Fete Day and it's safe to say it was absolutely incredible. 🧡💙

Not only did we start the day with 2 shouts 📟 for our D-Class Inshore Lifeboat but we saw a record number of visitors and raised a record breaking figure.

The money raised goes directly to RNLI Seahouses Lifeboat Station and pays for the vital kit we use to save lives at sea. None of this would have been possible without the unwavering commitment and support from our Staff, Volunteer & Supporters.

We would like to take this opportunity to say a lot of Thank Yous

All RNLI Staff and Volunteers, Water Safety, Fundraisers, Shop Staff, Boat Crew, Shore Crew.

The local community for supplying delicious baked goods for our tea/coffee and cake sale which all went down a storm.

Seahouses Primary School for the loan of tables and chairs, the beautiful bunting too. The Hub at Seahouses for providing the tables for our stalls and cake sale. We are incredibly grateful.

To the incredible local musicians 🎹🎤🎸 who provided the entertainment throughout the day.

📟 TWO ILB LAUNCHES 📟

Good Evening Everyone,

As our volunteers readied the boats and station for our Summer Fete Day at 08:33 the pagers went off. A report from Humber Coastguard to a group of walkers on the Pilgrims Path near Holy Island in difficulty requested assistance.

Within minutes we launched our RNLI D-Class Inshore Lifeboat on service and made best speed towards the location. Other assets from partner agencies were also deployed. Seahouses Coastguard Rescue Team and Holy Island Coastguard Rescue Team

Whilst en route HM Coastguard passed a Standon message to our crew as the walkers had managed to make their way to safety. Our boat returned to station and made ready for visitors to arrive.

THEN at 09:49 we received a Pan Pan distress message via VHF Channel 16 reporting a small inflatable fishing boat was in difficulty due to engine failure.

The crew relaunched the D-Class and made best speed towards the reported location near North Sunderland bouy. There were several vessels within the vicinity and the casualty vessel was located further out than originally reported.

Fortunately the 2 persons on board had managed to get their engine restarted, they believe it had been an issue with the fuel line connector. They were very grateful for the crews attendance, sensibly they returned to Seahouses Harbour to further investigate the issue. We provided an es**rt back to Harbour in case there were any further issues.

RNLI Seahouses Lifeboat Station Volunteer Crew Member Kate said "this was a really straight forward shout for our Crew, made easier by the 2 persons on board having the right equipment. A handheld VHF is a vital piece of kit and great to see both wearing lifejackets".

We again recovered the boat and made it ready to return to service and our volunteers to start the Fete Day Festivities.
