Today, Government announced it has paused Local Government Reorganisation and will review LGR decisions in many areas, including East Sussex.

Councillor Zoe Nicholson, Leader of Lewes District Council, said:

“Today's announcement is another twist in a process that has already caused a great deal of uncertainty for residents. People deserve clear answers about what comes next and how any review will affect our communities.

“Last year saw local elections for East Sussex County Council cancelled and then reinstated, and now the entire Local Government Reorganisation programme is being reviewed.

“In Lewes district, we've been asking the Minister to explain the decision to separate East Saltdean, Peacehaven and Telscombe from the rest of our district and transfer them into Brighton & Hove, despite overwhelming opposition from local people. We have not yet received those answers. Today’s announcement only provides us with more uncertainty which is frustrating and unsettling for residents who simply want to know what the future holds for their communities.

“We will continue to work with our partners across East Sussex to understand the implications of this announcement and make sure local voices are heard throughout the review. Above all, our focus remains on serving residents and delivering the services people rely on every day.”

Congratulations 👏🏻👏🏻

I did it! 🏊‍♂️🚴‍♂️🏃‍♂️
Yesterday I completed the Brighton & Hove Triathlon in an official time of 𝟯 𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀 𝟮𝟴 𝗺𝗶𝗻𝘂𝘁𝗲𝘀:: a 1,500m sea swim, a nominal 40 km cycle run, shortened slightly over safety concerns—and a 10km run. I’m slightly achy today, but very proud of my accomplishment!
This was my first standard-distance triathlon and the first of several challenges I hope to undertake during my mayoral year to raise money for 𝗔𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘀. The aim is to help provide free places for children and young people in Seaford, so that cost does not prevent them from enjoying Aspens’ activities and days out.

Seaford Town Council is seeking your views on the 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗲𝗮𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗱 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗚𝗼𝗹𝗳 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲.

🏊‍♂️🚴‍♂️🏃‍♂️ Good luck, Mr Mayor!

This Sunday, 6 September, our Mayor, Cllr Lindsay Stirton, will be taking on his first-ever triathlon – the Brighton Triathlon!

The challenge includes a 1500m open-water swim, 50km bike ride and 10km run – an incredible achievement and one he’s been working hard towards.

The Mayor is taking on the challenge to raise funds and awareness for his chosen charity, Aspens, helping to provide inclusion, support and ordinary joy for children, young people and families in Seaford.
