A massive thank you to Macsalvors for their incredibly generous donation of a brand new Hyundai Generator to West Cornwall Search & Rescue Team.

Their staff have been fantastic throughout – friendly, helpful, and supportive from start to finish.

This generator will be a huge asset to the team, providing reliable power for lighting, communications equipment, battery charging, and our search base operations, especially during incidents in remote locations and prolonged searches.

Support like this helps us continue to respond safely and effectively when our communities need us most.

Thank you again, Macsalvors – your generosity is greatly appreciated by all of our volunteers! 👏

Last Thursday, we had the opportunity to come together with our Search and Rescue (SAR) partners as we prepare for the busy season ahead.

Hosted by WCSAR team member, Matt, at Pendennis CIC, the evening brought together teams from RNLI Lifeguards, HM Coastguard, Mountain Rescue, Surf Lifesavers and our local NHS Community First Responders.

It was a valuable chance to meet, train together, and gain a better understanding of how each organisation operates within the wider emergency response network.

The highlight of the evening was a mass casualty evacuation exercise involving 14 casualties, giving us the opportunity to put our skills into practice and test our communication, teamwork, and joint response capabilities in a realistic scenario.

A huge thank you to everyone involved. We came away with invaluable experience, strengthened partnerships, and an even greater appreciation of the role each team plays in keeping our communities safe.

We're looking forward to working alongside our fellow emergency services throughout the summer.

🏅 Good Luck, Steve!

One of our volunteers, Steve, is taking on a fundraising challenge in aid of the team.

Conquering the The Dartmoor Crossing ultra running event!

Steve is part of the team that responds to searches for missing and vulnerable people across West Cornwall. Alongside his volunteer commitment, he's now putting himself to the test to help raise vital funds for our charity.

We'd be grateful for any support you can give him along the way.

This past week has been a real rollercoaster of highs and lows.

From the frantic preparations to get everything ready for the Royal Cornwall Show's opening on Thursday, to the pleasure of meeting so many of you on Thursday and Friday, it was shaping up to be a fantastic event. Sadly, we then woke on Saturday to the disappointing news that the show had been cancelled due to the weather.

As one of the two chosen charities for this year's show, we had hoped to raise vital funds. Everything we have – from the vehicles carrying equipment, to the kit we wear – has been made possible through the generosity of public donations. We receive no government funding, and every member of our team is a volunteer.

We don't often ask for donations publicly, but on this occasion we have a simple request. If you were planning to attend the show on Saturday and would have been happy to drop a few coins into one of our collection buckets, please consider making a small donation using the link below.

If you would like to support our work, please visit our donation page: https://westcornwallsar.co.uk/support-us/

Every pound donated helps support our life-saving work across Cornwall and is genuinely appreciated.

Thank you for your continued support. 🧡

We are devastated to announce that Day 3 of the Royal Cornwall Show has been cancelled due to the weather.

We were so looking forward to meeting as many of you as possible at the showground and were all geared up for a bumper final day. Of course we understand and respect the decision taken by the organisers in the interests of public safety.

The next opportunity to meet the team will be at Helifest 2026 at Scorrier House on 6th July and we hope to see you there instead! In the meantime, stay safe and thank you to everyone who supported us over the first two days of the show.

Royal Cornwall Show – Saturday Closure

It is with great regret that following a thorough assessment of forecast weather conditions and their impact on the showground, the difficult decision has been taken to cancel the final day of the Royal Cornwall Show on Saturday.

The safety and wellbeing of our visitors, exhibitors, competitors, members, staff, volunteers and contractors has been central to this decision and remains our highest priority.

We recognise how disappointing this news will be for everyone involved, particularly those who had planned to attend, exhibit or compete, and we would like to thank all our stakeholders for their patience, understanding and support.

Further information for ticket holders, exhibitors, competitors, members and other stakeholders will be communicated as soon as possible through the Royal Cornwall Show’s official channels.
