πŸ“Ÿ CALL-OUT: 24/05/26 – Poldice Valley

On Sunday 24 May, we were contacted by the Devon & Cornwall Police following a request from South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust, for assistance with an evacuation in Poldice Valley after a trail-user had fallen from his bike.

During the incident the casualty had suffered a lower leg injury. On our arrival, the ambulance crew were already on scene providing pain relief and further treatment.

Once our 4x4 vehicle arrived, we prepared our stretcher and added the casualty bag for extra padding and comfort.

We carried him to the waiting ambulance about 15 minutes away.

We are thrilled to announce that East and West Cornwall Search and Rescue Teams have been chosen as the official charities for Royal Cornwall Show 2026 along with Farm Cornwall.

This is an incredible opportunity to raise awareness and support for our search and rescue teams in Cornwall and we would love to meet you at our stand (number 170) over the three days of the show between the 4th and 6th June.

We are hoping to have some of our search dogs there on Thursday and Saturday along with our team members each day, come along and say hello and see what we do.

Our volunteer Call-out Members took part in navigation exercises and realistic first aid scenarios last night, putting essential search & rescue skills into practice. All rounded off with an incredible Cornish sunset.

With the Bank Holiday weekend ahead and plenty of people heading outdoors, please stay safe while enjoying Cornwall:

🌊 Water safety

β€’ Visit an RNLI Lifeguarded beach
β€’ Stay well back from cliff edges and unstable ground
β€’ Cold water shock can affect even strong swimmers
β€’ If you see someone in trouble at the coast: call 999 and ask for the Coastguard

⛰️ Hill & moorland safety

β€’ Take a map, charged phone, torch and extra layers
β€’ Weather can change quickly, even on warm days
β€’ Tell someone your planned route and return time
β€’ Wear suitable footwear and carry enough water

Have a fantastic Bank Holiday weekend and enjoy the outdoors safely.
