Coastguard rescue teams responded to an incident on Old Hunstanton Beach in Norfolk, when a kitesurfer was left fighting for their life after unpredictable strong gusts hurled them 20 feet to the ground.

Senior Coastal Operations Officer, Christon Iliffe, said: “The casualty required an urgent response, so our team was tasked to maintain their condition and keep them safe and comfortable until a paramedic arrived."

Heading to the beach in the summer sun this week? ☀️

Stay safe by:
- Staying in lifeguarded areas of the beach
- Not using pool inflatables in the sea - it’s very easy to drift a long way out
- Being aware of currents & tides
- Not going into the water alone

If you see someone in trouble at the beach, call 999 and ask for the coastguard. If you get into trouble, don’t panic- float to live.

lifeboat demonstration on the seafront at 11am and come down to the station from 12 o’clock to meet Stormy Stan along with Southwold and crew … tea and cakes available too 🧁🍰
