Sandy Town Council works actively with & for local people in Sandy and Beeston, North East Bedfordshire. We aim to promote and enhance our distinctive community & to support the work of local organisations which contribute to the well-being of residents and visitors to our town. The Town Council regularly reviews its activities & looks for new opportunities to provide cost effective services to enhance the experience of living in Sandy. We work in partnership with other organisations to help them improve their local service delivery. Central Bedfordshire Council is also responsible for some local services in Sandy. You should contact them direct if you have concerns about bin collections, fly-tipping, potholes, parking and main highway streetlights. A fantastic joint effort by the ๐ˆ๐•๐‚๐• and ๐‘๐ˆ๐๐๐‹๐„ ๐œ๐จ๐ง๐ฌ๐ž๐ซ๐ฏ๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐ ๐ซ๐จ๐ฎ๐ฉ๐ฌ has seen the long-needed repairs to the steps at The Pinnacle, Sandy completed!

Working together, volunteers from both groups have repaired and renewed the steps along the routes from Cambridge Road and the railway station, making the paths safer, more accessible and enjoyable for everyone who visits this much-loved local landmark.

A huge thank you to everyone who gave their time, energy and hard work to make this happen.

Both sides are now complete โ€” another great example of what can be achieved when local conservation groups work together!๐Ÿ’š

There are two upcoming opportunities to get involved with the Onion Loft Community Garden, and everyone is welcome! ๐Ÿ’š

Tuesday 8th September | 10amโ€“2pm
๐Ÿ“ Onion Loft Community Garden

Come along and get involved with some practical work on site, including:

โ–ช Finishing the 3rd raised bed
โ–ช Clearing brambles
โ–ช Creating a structure to help capture rainwater

Wednesday 9th September | 7pm
๐Ÿ“ Church Rooms, St Swithunโ€™s, Sandy

There will be a chance to share ideas and make plans for the future, including:

โ–ช Growing produce
โ–ช Enhancing the garden and site
โ–ช Planning work schedules
โ–ช Organising social events

No trains will run from Sandy to London this Sunday, 30 August, due to major Bank Holiday rail works.

Disruptions will start Saturday evening from 8pm and end Monday morning from 9am.

You can still get into London by taking the rail replacement bus from Sandy station to Potters Bar and changing to a train, or by driving to Bedford station to catch a direct, unaffected Thameslink train. Please allow significantly more travel time than usual.

Central Bedfordshire Council is inviting residents, businesses and local organisations to share their views on the future of transport across the area.

The Local Transport Plan 4 (LTP4) sets out a long-term vision for a place where people have access to a sustainable and future proofed transport system that provides a variety of attractive and realistic travel choices.

It focuses on key themes including improving health and wellbeing, supporting local businesses and communities, making travel safer and more inclusive, and preserving our natural and built environment.

The Council would like your feedback on whether the plan is heading in the right direction. Whether you walk, cycle, wheel, drive or use public transport, your feedback is important in helping make sure the plan reflects local needs.
