Here’s an update from our merry band on what happened in May 📆
Lots has happened over the last month or so, and it always seems to be such a busy time for so many as summer approaches (hopefully!) ☀️
As mentioned in a previous post, The Men’s Circle — East Kent was informally invited to attend the unveiling of the new bench by St. Peter’s Church here in Sandwich. What was so special about this bench, you might be thinking… Well, at first glance, it’s just a bench. But the story behind goes much deeper than that: it’s there as a reminder that nobody should have to carry life’s struggles alone. A place to pause, catch your breath, gather your thoughts, have a chat, or maybe simply sit in silence for a while.
Here at our circle, we often talk about the importance of connection, community, and reaching out before things get too heavy. This bench stands for those same values 🙏🏻⭕️
We also had our monthly meet-up last week, and we explored the theme of ‘Allowing yourself to be helped when struggling’. This was more challenging than we had all anticipated, and I include myself in that. A lot of us recognised that the circle itself has grown, and that perhaps the work that we’re all choosing to do as MEN needs to start at a much younger age. Today’s boys are indeed tomorrow’s MEN.
I cannot state clearly enough how grateful I am to be able to be a part of this group of like-minded, open, and brave MEN. I wish I had had something available and open to me when I was a teen or twenty-something, and so many agree 🤝🏻
Most importantly, I was reminded of the importance of sometimes letting go, enjoying the simple things with those that matter. Laughing, smiling, and being a bit silly are important, too 😜
Stay tuned for more updates about our upcoming dates in June! ⭕️
Until then…
