Congleton Constituency Labour Party

Congleton Constituency Labour Party Standing up for the people of Alsager, Congleton, Holmes Chapel, Middlewich and Sandbach. The Labour Party is a democratic socialist party.

It believes that by the strength of our common endeavour we achieve more than we achieve alone, so as to create for each of us the means to realise our true potential and for all of us a community in which power, wealth and opportunity are in the hands of the many not the few, where the rights we enjoy reflect the duties we owe, and where we live together, freely, in a spirit of solidarity, tolerance and respect.

A huge thank you to everyone who voted for our brilliant candidate, Ken Hadfield, in the North Ward by‑election for Congleton Town Council.

We ran a positive campaign and it was fantastic to speak with so many residents across the ward. While Labour came 3rd in a field of 7 candidates, Labour was the highest‑placed progressive party, ahead of the Lib Dems, Greens, Equality Party and the independent candidate.

Thanks also go to the volunteers who helped power our campaign. We’re incredibly proud of Ken, proud of our team, and proud of our positive vision.

We’ll keep working hard for our constituency. 🌹

Congleton constituency doesn't have elections on 7 May - our elections are in May 2027. On we remember why voting Labour is so important - workers' rights have been hard won - and they can be easily taken away. and

This is , where we celebrate what working people win when we stand together. Joining a Union can improve your working conditions - our rights weren’t handed down - they were fought for. Labour's new Employment Rights Act show that Labour is on the side of working people.

• 2.7 million workers will benefit from the increase in the minimum wage

• Statutory Sick Pay from day one.

• Paternity & parental leave from day one.

• Bereavement leave for fathers & partners.

• New protections for whistleblowers.

• Stronger action on fire and rehire.

We are delighted to announce that KEN HADFIELD is Labour's candidate in the forthcoming Congleton Town Council by election on the 21 May. Ken lives on the Daisybank Drive estate with his wife and son, who attends a local primary school.

Thank you to Dan Price for Cheshire for joining us as the guest speaker at this month’s CLP meeting. Dan is Labour’s candidate for Mayor of the Cheshire & Warrington Combined Authority, and it was great to hear him talk about his campaigns and ideas for improving transport, skills and housing across our region.
Dan also took time to answer members’ questions, which was greatly appreciated.

What a lovely afternoon talking to residents in Newbold Astbury. We had a lot of useful conversations which we will feed back to Cheshire East Council and Labour's Policy Forum.

We were honoured to welcome Mark King OBE to Congleton CLP to speak about the Oliver King Foundation, set up in memory of his son Oliver, who died aged 12 from Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome. Access to a defibrillator could have saved his son's life. The Foundation has successfully campaigned for every school to receive a defibrillator and for CPR to be taught in schools. It is now campaigning for its own testing centre, so that the hidden heart condition can be detected in children early.

Mark demonstrated how easy it was to use a defibrillator at the meeting - and it really was very easy. His demonstration gave us the confidence to use one should the occasion arise. Every minute counts following a cardiac arrest, so having a defibrillator nearby is essential.

Thank you to Colin Storey for organising the event, pictured with Mark.
