In happier news, these guys are thriving 🐠

They had a close shave when the Saltburn power cut the other day turned their tank off and it wouldn't come back on 😩

Luckily, Alex (aka Snuffle & Swim) came to their rescue 💙

They bring such a gorgeous, chill vibe to the baby room, and so much enjoyment for the dinky ones 🥰

So much so, the bigger kids will be getting something similar in the main play area too!

Heartbreaking 💔

I don't like playing bad cop, and to be honest, when I'm running everything singlehandedly I don't have time to be.

I rely on everyone helping me look after the space, and if anything gets broken, to just let me know. And most of you are amazing and do just that. Legends.

This isn't the first breakage I've seen, I've even discovered some that have been deliberately covered up afterwards which really made my heart sink.

I haven't wanted to be remotely negative but I can't just ignore this one.

Please, please help me keep the magic of The Nook alive by treating it with respect 🙏

I'll be making some changes to the baby room going forward, to protect the safe, peaceful space for our littlest visitors.

Thursdays are special.

The Nook is closed on Thursdays because it's the only day of the week Alex and I can both be off work at the same time.

We have our weekly no-phones breakfast date with Cody, run a few errands, and try to spend some time outdoors.

Then we pick Archer up from nursery - the only day I can be there to experience the moment he runs through those doors and gives me a massive hug.

We get some precious time together as a family and usually finish the day trying to get the house into some sort of order.

Depending how much energy I had left the day before, Thursdays are also sometimes spent sorting things at the café. As a team.

Alex tends to the fish tank, Archer "helps" organise the toys, and Cody comes along for the ride.

Everything takes longer than it probably should, but I wouldn't change it for the world.

Especially when it ends with a play picnic on the baby room floor. 💛

Goodness me. What a blumin' gorgeous day.
It's been a long and busy one, but packed full of beautiful moments.

Today I had the honour of:

👶 Seeing one of my little regulars meet his new baby sister for the very first time via video call.

🏥 Meeting a group of friends who met in NICU and are now bonded for life by everything they've been through together. Such kind and resilient people.

🤝 Catching up with a mum who came to the café in our first week looking for somewhere she could juggle her baby while working on her CV. She sat in the baby room with her laptop and little one outside of normal session times so she could get it done. Today I found out she got the job she was aiming for. What a legend.

🥳 Celebrating little Alex's third birthday with his wonderful family and friends. An amazing little guy and a lovely bunch of people.

It's these moments that make The Nook so special. Life happens here, right before my eyes, and I feel incredibly lucky to be a small part of it 💛

Always the one behind the camera? Me too 😩

Honestly, I have so many gorgeous photos of my kids with everyone but me, and the overthinking part of me (a fairly big part 😅) worries they'll look back one day and wonder why I wasn't there, even though I always was.

I see so many of you taking lovely photos of your little ones in The Nook, but if you'd like to be in them too, please just ask and I'll happily get snapping on your behalf 😊

And if you do take any photos you'd like to share, I'd absolutely love to see them, so don't forget to tag The Nook!

Today was one of those crazy busy days (for which I'm incredibly grateful - thank you! 🥰) where being a one-woman show meant I was running around with very little time to actually stop and have a lovely chat with you all.

So I thought now might be a good time to share a little more about me...

I'm a perfectionist. One of my more annoying traits, I'm sure! But it's also why The Nook will look the same every time you walk through the door. I spend those 30 minutes between sessions frantically tidying, cleaning and resetting the space so your little ones get that little bit of magic each time they visit, and you can come in and relax.

I'm also a chronic empath. It's a blessing and a curse. If I look like I'm welling up when the birthday candles are blown out at your child's party, if I can't hide my worry when someone is upset about leaving, or if I ask how you're doing when you're wrangling the kids solo... it's because I get it.

I know how it felt when my little one suddenly wasn't so little anymore. I remember being small and feeling like the world was ending over something that seemed minor to everyone else. And I'm still living the reality of juggling life on very little sleep, sometimes with two children in tow and no extra pair of hands.

So there you go. Two little snippets of me.

Just so you know that when you come to The Nook, I've got you. 💛
