When I started The Nook, I was determined to create a really special little place.

I wanted it to feel different, and I wanted it to keep changing and evolving.

I never wanted it to stand still.

And it won’t - there are already some really exciting changes coming over the next few months 🥰

But what I didn’t consider was how much your little ones would help keep The Nook alive and changing every single day without me changing a thing.

Here are a few of my favourite ever-changing things at The Nook… 🤍

☎️ Who’s on the phone?
Mummy. Daddy. Grandma. Grandad. The family pooch. Paw Patrol… it all depends on who picks it up, and I absolutely love listening to the conversations that follow 😂

🚂 Where’s the train going?
Home. Saltburn. Marske. The beach. The stars… home birds and adventurers alike love our resident choo choo.

⛵ What’s happening at sea?
It’s a sailboat. A fishing boat. A pirate ship. The Coastguard. Sometimes we’re heading out for a lovely day at sea; sometimes, there appears to be a full-scale maritime emergency underway. 😂

🐦 What’s his name?
Potentially one of my favourites…

This chap has gone by more names than I could ever keep track of. Gully. Gus. Captain Chips. Chippy…

And, of course, Simon.

Same little Nook - a completely different world depending on who walks through the door 🤍

And I think that might be my favourite kind of change of all 🥰

It’s every parent’s worst nightmare.

I can’t even bear to think about it, to be honest. But being prepared and knowing what to do in those first few moments can make the world of difference. That knowledge is utterly priceless.

I want to use The Nook for things that genuinely help people and make a difference, and this is absolutely one of them.

So, on Thursday 8th October, Mini First Aid will be joining us for a two-hour Baby & Child First Aid class - and I’ll certainly be taking part in this one myself.

Monday mornings at The Nook 🎶

We had some amazing little rock stars in our first weekly Rhythm Time session today 🤘🥰

And what a gorgeous time we all had!

We started with an hour of play (and a coffee for the grown-ups ☕️), before getting stuck into the music!

We sang, danced, played instruments, got the parachute out and made plenty of noise — with everyone from our tiniest babies to our bigger little ones getting involved 🥁🎶

And the best bit? We get to do it all again next week! 🥰

There’s still time to join this lovely group for the rest of the block, with the remaining weeks charged pro-rata - or drop me a message to enquire about PAYG availability.

Each week, your little one gets 30 minutes of Rhythm Time - packed with music, movement, instruments, singing and sensory fun - followed by a full hour of more peaceful play at The Nook 🤍

When I said Santa was coming to The Nook, I meant it. 🎅🏻

No naff impersonators. No fake beards. No flammable polyester suits.
We’ve got the real deal. 😍🎅🏻

And I have been DYING to share this photo!

I used to be scared of Father Christmas as a kid (and for longer than I’d care to admit 😂), so I never thought I’d see the day I’d be legit fangirling over the guy.

But LOOK. AT. HIM. 😍

Santa will be travelling all the way from the North Pole to join just 15 little ones at The Nook this December for a whole hour of Christmas stories, songs, festive fun, and those all-important special moments. 🤍

No queues. No busy grotto. No being rushed through for a quick hello.

Just Christmas magic, the way it should be. ✨

✨ Christmas at The Nook starts here…

Santa is coming to The Nook this December! 🎅🏻❄️

I wanted this Santa experience to feel a little different - no queues, no busy grotto, and no being rushed through for a quick hello.

Instead, we’re keeping this one intentionally small, with just 15 child places available, so our little guests can actually spend time with Santa 🤍

Join us for a very special 90-minute Christmas play session, with Santa joining us for an hour of festive fun, Christmas stories and songs, plus time for every little one to have their own special moment with him and receive a gift 🎁

🎅🏻 11am–12.30pm
🎟️ £25 per child, one adult included

👶 Babies under 1 are welcome to come along free with a paying sibling. Please note, a Santa gift is not included unless a child place is booked for them.

A Saltburn play café is offering free play sessions to members of the emergency services and their young children.
The Nook, an independent play café for babies and children aged 0–5 on Station Street in Saltburn, has opened the offer to emergency service workers who would like some calm, relaxed time with their families.
Owner Becky Lewis said the gesture was prompted by thinking about those who are there for the community during circumstances most people “can’t even begin to imagine”.
Becky said: “With everything that’s happened recently, I’ve been thinking a lot about the people in our emergency services who are there for us during circumstances most of us can’t even begin to imagine.
“It’s only a small gesture, but it’s something I can do. I’d like to offer free play at The Nook to members of our emergency services and their little ones.
“If they could use a little time somewhere calm with their family, a change of scenery or simply an hour or two of normality, I’d love to welcome them.
“Whether that’s now or further down the line, the offer is there. Hopefully The Nook can provide a little bit of light when it’s needed.”
The offer is open to members of the emergency services with children within The Nook’s 0–5 age range. Those wishing to visit are asked to contact The Nook directly to arrange their complimentary session, subject to availability.
The Nook opened in Saltburn in April 2026 and was created as a calm alternative to traditional soft play, combining imaginative play for babies and young children with a high-quality café experience for their grown-ups.

🎶 RHYTHM TIME IS COMING TO SALTBURN! 🤍

After our Rhythm Time pop-ups proved so popular, I’m so excited that Melissa from Rhythm Time will now be bringing a weekly class to Saltburn for the very first time - right here at The Nook! 🎶

Starting THIS MONDAY, 7th September, little ones can enjoy 30 minutes of Rhythm Time followed by a full hour of play at The Nook - with the café open throughout for the all-important coffee ☕️

🎵 Mondays | 9am–10.30am

Places are booked as a half-term block for just £10.50 per week, giving you something lovely (and already planned!) to look forward to every Monday 🤍

7 weekly sessions | 7th September – 19th October
£73.50 for the full block

Joining us after the course has started? No problem - you’ll only pay for the remaining weeks.
