Cadet Force Adult Volunteer Sergeant Ian Sherman, Whom is a member Of Sarum Academy Detachment of D Coy, Wiltshire Army Cadet Force and during the day works for Waitrose as a delivery driver.
Is currently taking part in the Medicine Ball Challenge, which means He is attached to a 3Kg Medicine ball for 1 week. The ball itself has words such as stress, depression stuck on it. The ball is a physical representation of the invisible burden of mental health, wherever he has gone people have approached him and asked questions, and Ian has found that it has been nice having open conversations about mental health issues.
He has been walking around Salisbury, sat in Coffee shops and has been stopped everywhere, he has enjoyed talking to people and especially enjoyed talking to the Cadets from Sarum Academy, they had some good questions, but the main aim was to let them know that it is ok to talk, and to reassure them that we are there ready to listen and help in anyway we can.
He has equally enjoyed having the ball at work, some interesting comments from Customers and Partners – He has another few days left – If you see him come say hey!
Otherwise please check out the Medicine Ball on Facebook,
