Folk music from Maerefolk and Charles Allison, with storytelling by Paul Butler.
In association with Salisbury Folk Club.

Maerefolk: a four-piece Salisbury band blending vocal harmonies with guitar, fiddle, and bass — playing a range of traditional and modern folk songs.
Paul Butler: two decades of traditional storytelling.
Charles Allison: musician and songwriter.

Before the show, explore The Salisbury Museum exhibition “Un/Common People – Folk Culture in Wessex” from 6:30pm. Tickets include wine or a non-alcoholic drink during the interval.

This was reported to Wiltshire Finds Liaison Officer as on our patch! Amazing finds 😍

Now on display in Room 2 at the British Museum - an assemblage of Anglo-Saxon gold and garnet fittings - including a bird's head terminal - possibly from a drinking horn, placed in a burial. Found in West Wiltshire by detectorists Chris Philips and Paul Gould, with further pieces discovered in follow up recovery efforts by Mike Dawson, Dan Dawson, Steve Grant and Alix Smith. The site will be professionally excavated by archaeologists from Cardiff University and the PAS later this spring. The Salisbury Museum Wiltshire Museum Museum & Art

Our Wiltshire PAS Team was invited to the British Museum today for the Annual Treasure Report. Three finds were showcased, including our Wiltshire Early Medieval precious metal hoard. Look at this stunning bird's head made from gold, garnet, silver and elephant ivory! 😍 It may be the terminal from a drinking horn. Gold and garnet rings and other metallic objects were found nearby. Thanks to the rally organisers and detectorists for stopping the rally and alerting the FLO 😀 Image courtesy of BM.
