Behind every number is a person.

A person who found support, connection and encouragement through the unique relationship between humans and horses.

So far in 2026, the Armed Forces Equine Charity has:

🐴 Supported 18 beneficiaries and 36 indirect beneficiaries

🐴 Delivered 84 hours of Equine Assisted Services

🐴 Worked across 3 delivery centres

🐴 Seen 100% of participants report improved mental wellbeing

These outcomes would not be possible without the dedication of our staff, volunteers, partners, funders and supporters. Thank you for helping us continue to support members of the Armed Forces community through the power of horses.

With further courses and sessions planned throughout the remainder of 2026, we look forward to supporting even more members of the Armed Forces community in the months ahead.

Together, we are making a difference.

Le Cateau School Partnership – Catterick Saddle Club 🐴✨

Funding secured through the Jack Brunton Trust has enabled children from Le Cateau Primary School to attend weekly sessions at Catterick Saddle Club.

The programme supports pupils from the school’s specialist provision, The Retreat, which works with children who may struggle within traditional classroom settings, including those with additional communication, social and emotional needs.

Through structured equine activities, children are developing confidence, communication, teamwork and practical life skills in a fun, supportive and engaging environment.

Recent sessions have included horse care, stable management and introductory riding activities, with several children overcoming fears and trying riding for the first time.

“The war didn’t end when I took off the uniform.”

This reflection was shared, with permission, by a beneficiary of the AFEC and SHEROsMM2 Pilot Trauma Informed Programme for Women Veterans.

The programme was delivered by a highly experienced Equine Assisted Services team and adapted specifically to meet the needs of MST survivors, with psychological safety and choice at its core.

We are proud to collaborate on initiatives that provide structured, evidence-informed recovery spaces for women veterans.
