This week our soldiers have been out on the range competing in the 3 Deep Recce Strike Brigade Operational Shooting Competition, honing their skills on both rifle and pistol. The shoots on this competition are physically demanding, being designed to simulate situations our soldiers could face on combat operations.

A team of 8 went head to head against Regiments from across the Brigade, with one of our troops winning Champion Solider, a prize for the best shot of the competition!

A great opportunity for our soldiers to get out and represent the Regiment whilst practicing some of the fundamental skills of soldiering.

Better never stops.

Following their return from Op CABRIT 16, 5 (Gibraltar 1779-1783) Battery have recommenced their training pathway with the 1 MERCIAN Battlegroup. Most recently they completed Exercise STEEL DRAGON alongside their 1 MERCIAN Mortars counterparts.

This was an invaluable opportunity to establish the skills and processes that will underpin success throughout the Battlegroup’s training pathway.

28/143 Bty (Tombs’s Troop) Farewell Parade

Today the regiment bid farewell to 28/143 Battery (Tomb’s Troop) prior to their deployment on Op CABRIT 18 alongside the 1 RWELSH Battlegroup.

A proud moment on parade — recognising the professionalism, readiness and cohesion of the Battery as they step forward to represent the Regiment as part of NATO’s Forward Land Forces.

We wish them every success as they deploy in support of NATO commitments, carrying our history, standards and reputation with them.
