⭐Contemporary Narratives Closing Event⭐

Join us on Saturday 26th September to mark the closing weekend of Your Salford 100: Contemporary Narratives, with an exciting day of conversation and making in our East Wing Gallery!

12:00 to 1:00pm – Exhibition talk
1:00 – 3:00pm – Free, drop-in activities
Everything will be FREE with no booking required.

The first half of the afternoon will be an hour-long gallery tour featuring six of the exhibiting artists and led by the Salford Museum Exhibition Manager, Claire Corrin. After that the artists will fill the entire gallery with live demonstrations, drop-in craft activities, and temporary extensions of the work on display.

Come and screen print a tote bag, make a paper animation, watch a live knitting machine demonstration, stitch an abstract map – and more!

Both the talk and all activities will be appropriate for all ages, so all are welcome.

Before, during and after!

Did you know that Lark Hill Mansion used to sit where our beloved Lark Hill Place is?

The mansion house was demolished due to subsidence in the 1930s and replaced with what is now our East Wing, which was made to be a mirror image of our West Wing. This is where Lark Hill Place, our Victorian Street, gets its name!

Drop into our local history library from 12-4pm today if you'd like to browse more old photos of Salford!

Step back in time at Lark Hill Place, our charming Victorian street.
Open Tuesday to Sunday 11.30am – 4.00pm.

Lark Hill Place is named after the mansion house built on this site by James Ackers in the 18th or 19th century. Look out for the side street at Lark Hill Place that is named after him.

It is always tea-time on a winter’s evening on Lark Hill Place, when the street gas lights have just been lit, this helps the protect the objects from light damage.

Just outside the street are some Victorian dressing up clothes, to help children step back in time and you will find a member of staff at hand with a lantern which will help light the way on your visit.
