A huge congratulations to our newly promoted cadets at 318 (Sale) Squadron.

Promotions within the RAF Air Cadets are earned through hard work, commitment, teamwork and a positive attitude over a sustained period of time. Each of these cadets should be incredibly proud of what they have achieved.

Officer Commanding, Flt Lt Jones, said:
“These promotions recognise the effort, dedication and personal development these young people have consistently demonstrated. It is fantastic to see them progressing within the squadron and I would like to congratulate each of them on this well-deserved achievement. I look forward to seeing what they achieve next.”

Well done all, a proud moment for you, your families and the squadron.

✈️ Air Cadet Pilot Scholarship Success at RAF Cranwell ✈️

Huge congratulations to Cadet Warrant Officer Teggart who has successfully completed the prestigious Air Cadet Pilot Scholarship at RAF Cranwell with East Midlands Universities Air Squadron.

Over the course of an intensive three-week programme, he undertook a demanding schedule of both ground school and practical flying training following the RAF Elementary Flying Training syllabus.
He trained on the Grob Tutor aircraft under the guidance of RAF Qualified Flying Instructors. Starting with basic handling exercises, he developed core flying skills including straight and level flight, climbing, descending, and turning. As the course advanced, he built confidence and competence in airmanship and in more complex areas such as air traffic communications, take-offs and landings, stall recovery and emergency procedures.
The course concluded with the presentation of the RAFAC Gold Wings.

This achievement reflects not only his hard work and commitment, but also the high standards of training delivered through the RAF Air Cadets and the Universities Air Squadrons. Opportunities like the Air Cadet Pilot Scholarship remain a cornerstone of RAFAC’s mission to inspire the next generation in aviation and aerospace.
Once again, congratulations to Cadet Warrant Officer Teggart on this outstanding accomplishment, we look forward to seeing where his aviation journey takes him next.

BATTLE OF BRITAIN 85

Today, 318 and cadets from around Sector 1 were honoured to take part in the Battle of Britain 85th anniversary parade outside Sale town hall. This annual event serves as a solemn reminder of the courage, sacrifice, and determination of "The Few" who defended our nation in 1940.

318 and cadets from 182 North Trafford Sqn Royal Air Force Air Cadets, 1263 Rochdale Royal Air Force Air Cadets and 145 Altrincham & Hale Squadron - Air Training Corps conducted themselves with the highest standards of discipline and respect throughout the ceremony. We are proud to have represented the Royal Air Force Air Cadets at this significant occasion of remembrance.

In addition, 318 deployed their Cadet Media Team for the first time to capture the day's events. The team worked diligently to record and showcase the parade, ensuring that the commitment and achievements of our cadets are shared with our wider community.

WELCOME TO THE STAFF TEAM - CI MCMANUS

Last month, cadet FS McManus aged out, having completed an exemplary cadet career which encompassed Gold achievements, a Region win, and a historic appointment.

Just prior to aging out, FS McManus completed his role as the first Air Cadet appointed as High Sheriff of Greater Manchester's Cadet, supporting the historic second appointment of Dr Eamonn O'Neal in community duties, including school and High Sheriff's awards, Christmas Pride, and other community celebrations.

FS McManus undertook Gold Duke of Edinburgh's Award, was awarded a gliding scholarship, a Lord Lieutenant's Certificate for Meritorious Service, and achieved his Gold First Aid badge, using this to deliver life-saving skills to cadets, and being part of the squadron team winning both Wing and Region First Aid competitions.

FS McManus set an outstanding example of service and excellence, and we are immensely pleased to now welcome CI McManus to the staff team, where he continues to be a fantastic role model to our young people.

As a gift, he received our now traditional Notch - Passion For Life bracelet in the High Sheriff's colours, with a Gold Notch to mark his service - symbolising the end of one journey and the start of a new one.
