St Ives Town Council Cornwall

St Ives Town Council Cornwall St Ives Town Council provides local community services within the parish of St Ives in West Cornwall. St Ives Town Council doesn’t just hold meetings!

The parish includes the popular seaside coastal town of St Ives and Carbis Bay and the surrounding villages of Lelant and Halsetown. We own/run some important community facilities, like the library, the Palemon Best recreation ground (pictured), the Island Centre and Island Chapel. We also run the public toilets. Plus of course the Guildhall where people have weddings, markets are held and a range of amazing gigs/events. We’ve had everyone from the Royal Ballet to the Wu Tang Clan!

BIATHLON POSTPONED.
Update: 2026 St Ives Biathlon sponsored by Cornish Riviera Holidays POSTPONED

Due to the weather and sea conditions not improving today and having consulted with the RNLI, we have taken the decision to postpone today’s Biathlon.

We’re bitterly disappointed we could not hold today’s event, but the safety and wellbeing of all involved has to come first.

We hope to be able to reschedule the event for later in the year and hope to confirm more details on this in the coming weeks.

Thanks to all our sponsors, supporters, volunteers and the RNLI for their amazing support in the run up to today’s event.

Thanks also to all our competitors who we know will be disappointed not to be able to take part today and further details will follow as soon as we’re able to reschedule.

At the recent Boats in the Bay event, we warmly welcomed a small group of visitors from Le Comité de Jumelage de Camaret-sur-Mer, the Town Twinning Committee of Camaret-Sur-Mer. St Ives has been twinned with Camaret in the Crozon Peninsula in Brittainy for 45 years in a close connection as two towns with strong fishing traditions, now popular as picturesque coastal towns and centres of art and culture.

The mayor and councillors welcomed visitors and community twinners and our visitors were able to watch the iconic jumbo Barnabas make its entrance into the town. with special thanks to the NCI St Ives, as ever, for raising the Breton flag in their honour.
