St Ives Town Council Cornwall

St Ives Town Council Cornwall St Ives Town Council provides local community services within the parish of St Ives in West Cornwall. St Ives Town Council doesn’t just hold meetings!

The parish includes the popular seaside coastal town of St Ives and Carbis Bay and the surrounding villages of Lelant and Halsetown. We own/run some important community facilities, like the library, the Palemon Best recreation ground (pictured), the Island Centre and Island Chapel. We also run the public toilets. Plus of course the Guildhall where people have weddings, markets are held and a range of amazing gigs/events. We’ve had everyone from the Royal Ballet to the Wu Tang Clan!

❤️ More Conversations Means Less Quilts

Ahead of World Su***de Prevention Day on the 10th September, we’re sharing an important invitation to visit the Cornwall Speak Their Name Su***de Memorial Quilt, currently on display at St Ia’s Church, St Ives, until 27 September.

The quilt is a moving memorial to people across Cornwall who have died by su***de. Each name and contribution represents a person who is deeply missed by their family, friends and community.

But this is about more than remembrance. It’s also about turning awareness into action.

Alongside the quilt is information about Cornwall Council’s Orange Button Community Scheme, as well as details of fully funded su***de intervention and Mental Health First Aid training available to everyone aged 16+ who lives or works in Cornwall.

We encourage local residents, community groups, organisations and businesses to:

➡️ Visit the quilt at St Ia’s Church and take a moment to reflect.
➡️ Share information about the quilt and World Su***de Prevention Day.
➡️ Find out about the fully funded training available with Healthy Cornwall and consider taking part.
➡️ Start conversations about su***de and mental health, and help others know where to turn for support.

The message is simple but powerful:

“More Conversations Means Less Quilts.” ❤️

Please don’t just read this -please share it. Help us amplify this important message across St Ives, West Cornwall and beyond.

You can also follow the Cornwall Speak Their Name page for more information and updates:
https://www.facebook.com/Cornwallspeaktheirname

Together, we can remember those we have lost, raise awareness, and help people recognise when someone may be struggling - and know what they can do to help.
