Please take a minute to familiarise yourself with where the defibrillators are in and around St Bees:

In research by St John Ambulance, half of people did not know where their nearest defibrillator was, but when one is used within the first few minutes of a cardiac arrest it makes an enormous difference to whether someone survives.

Anyone witnessing a suspected cardiac arrest should call 999 immediately, but being familiar with local defibrillator locations can accelerate retrieval when instructed by a 999 call handler.

A reminder that this closure on Sea Mill Lane is due to be in place from tomorrow

We have been advised by Cumberland Council that a temporary road closure has been put in place on Sea Mill Lane to allow BT to carry out utility works. These are expected to commence 9th September 2026 and anticipated to take 2 days to complete.

Location: Sea Mill Lane, St Bees, from a point adjacent to the property known as Lone Fern, extending in a north easterly direction for approximately 50m.

Alternative Route: There is no suitable alternative route available for vehicles. A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.

EDIT - We have been advised by Northern Gas Network that this work is now taking place in January. Northern Gas Network will be carrying out a series of gas works in St Bees at the start of next year and they will be organising an engagement event for residents to provide information and listen to concerns. We will share details of the engagement event once we know more.

We have been advised by Cumberland Council that a temporary road closure has been put in place to allow Northern Gas Networks to carry out gas main replacement works on Outrigg. These works are expected to commence 21st September 2026 and anticipated to take 12 days to complete.

We have contacted Highways for details regarding access for residents within the closure.

Location: C4007 Outrigg, St Bees, from its junction with the B5345 Egremont Road, extending in an overall easterly direction for approximately 70m.

Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of the C5007 Outrigg, C4008 and B5345 Egremont Road.

Thanks to the 8 volunteers who joined in the beach clean on Saturday. Your help to keep St Bees beach clean is appreciated.

If you couldn't make the organised beach clean, but would like to do a beach clean in your own time, litter pickers and bags are available via the beach clean station on the side of the seafront toilets.

Alternatively, we can lend litter pickers and bags hoops to groups to do their own litter pick around St Bees. Please contact Amy Linton to arrange: [email protected]

The next organised beach clean will be on Sunday 20th September for World Cleanup Day. Look out for further details.

We have been advised by Cumberland Council that a temporary closure of High House Road has been put in place to allow Sapphire to carry out utility works. These are expected to commence on 7th September 2026 and anticipated to take 7 days to complete.

We have contacted Highways for confirmation of resident access within the closure during these works and will provide an update when we hear back from them.

Location: C4009 High House Road, St Bees, from a point approximately 11m in an overall easterly direction of its junction with Vale View, St Bees, extending in a north easterly direction for approximately 670m.

Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of the C4009 High House Road, Linethwaite Road, A595 Springfield Road, Clints Brow, C4005 Main Street, Castle Villas, Bookwell, Egremont, C4007 Grove Road, Outrigg and B5345 Main Street, St Bees. A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times
