ASDA & TESCO
St Austell is approximately 10 minutes’ drive away from the park.
From the junction by The Ship Inn turn left.
Drive through Par Village to the junction by Richard’s Fresh Fish and Veg.
Turn left and carry on to the next junction.
At the roundabout turn left.
Carry on this road till the next roundabout (a Tesco store is on the right hand side of this road).
At the roundabout follow the signs for St Austell.
Continue down the hill and Asda is situated on the left hand side.

PAR VILLIAGE
There are 2 footpaths leading from the caravan park to the village. Facing away from the caravan turn right and the cutting leading to the footpath and cycle path is just 2 caravans away.
Par village has a variety of small shops including Cost cutters, Spar, Post Office, Boots Chemist, Fishing & Bait shop (fishing trips can be booked here), several hair salons, a silversmiths and Richard’s Fresh Fish and Veg. Papers and delicious fresh baked bread and Cornish Pasties can be purchased or ordered from the Post Office 7 days a week. In addition, On The Nail next to Cost cutters offers a wide selection of beauty treatments from manicures to massages which we can personally recommend.

TAKEAWAYS
An Indian Restaurant and Takeaway is sited opposite The Ship Inn.
The Golden Wok Chinese Takeaway and Restaurant can be found on the main street near to Cost cutters.
Val’s Fish & Chips is on the one way road heading back into the village and again can be recommended.

PUBS
The Ship Inn is located by the entrance to Par Sands Holiday Park. This pub has several large outside areas including a sun terrace and children’s play area. They have a daily carvery and a variety of entertainment throughout the week.

The Welcome Home Inn is on the main street (Par Green Road) in Par Village. This is the pub the locals go to and there is usually something going on each night. Your hosts Helen and Paul will ensure you receive a warm welcome. The food is home cooked, the portions are generous and the prices are very reasonable. If you are tempted to Sunday lunch you will generally need to book. There is a lovely beer garden at the back and children’s play area. This is a family pub and children and dogs are welcome.

The Par Inn
Opposite Richard’s Fresh Fish & Veg The Par Inn is another pub popular with the locals.

PAR STATION
Turn left and walk to the footpath that leads to Par Village.
Walk straight on past the Spar and Boots Chemist and past the sports field. The train station is on the left hand side walking up the hill. There are no parking charges at the station.

Trains run from Plymouth –Newquay.

TRAVELLING BY BUS
There are good bus links running from the village but we would recommend that a current timetable is picked up from the Park Reception. The nearest bus stop is located on Par Green Road near to the footpath leading from the caravan to the village.

Charlestown – Whether you want to walk around the headland, sit on the beach, visit the Titanic Museum, take a close look at the 3 tall ships in the harbour or want to go rock pooling this is a charming little place. The Crab Claw salad at Wreckers is amazing.

Mevagissey – A lovely fishing harbour with a lighthouse. There is a Fish and Chip shop round the corner from the Sharkfin restaurant (opposite the harbour) that sell the best fish and chips you are ever likely to try. Take a look inside the museum which is free and very interesting and runs competitions to keep the children entertained.

Looe – a busy fishing harbour with a variety of small shops and a fantastic beach that is cleaned each evening. Deck chairs and wind breakers can be hired for a nominal amount. Try Pengelly’s for fresh fish and veg or if you want a special meal the fabulous Papa Nino’s.
Parking can be a problem. If the main car park is full try the one near the garage (turn left over the bridge).

Polperro – Small harbour village which is home to the Polperro Miniature Village. From the car park take the tram into the village and wander past small local shops to the harbour. For a small fee you can take a trip around the coast and if you are lucky you may see the dolphins and seals. There is a lovely beach and for the more adventurous a hill on the headland to climb.

Smugglers Bay – Seaton (between Looe and Polperro) – Outdoor BBQs and entertainment in the evenings. Small cove where you can enjoy the sand, rock pools, safe swimming; café, shop and toilets are on site.

Lost Gardens of Heligan near Mevagissey – approx. 80 acres of walled gardens and jungles. Only some areas have disabled access.

The Eden Project – A family favourite and less than 4 miles away from Par Sands. Disabled access is especially good.

Fowey (pronounced Foy) - Small shops, cafes and pubs line the narrow streets. Try parking on The Espalande PL23 1HX and walking down the hill. The Quayside bakery is fab as is the historic Ship Inn; although many prefer The Galleon we find the home cooked fresh meals at the Ship Inn to be far superior.

Plymouth – A busy city that is well worth the trip. Journey across the Tamar River by either car ferry, bridge or train. Take a walk to the barbican, enjoy the view of Plymouth Sound from Plymouth Hoe, visit Drake Circus shopping mall.

Tintagel – Birth place of King Arthur. Steep steps lead to stunning views and well worth the climb.

Polkerris – Just a short drive away down a steep lane leads to Polkerris. The Rashleigh Inn and Sam’s Bar overlook the harbour where people body board and wind surf in the sea. There is a footpath you can take from the car park behind The Ship Inn that takes you around the headland to Polkerris coming out by The Rashleigh Inn. A taxi will cost approximately £5 each way. The food at both The Rashleigh and Sam’s is highly recommended. To avoid disappointment please book in advance as you will seldom find an empty table if you just turn up.

Helston – Holds the famous floral dance through the streets on or around the 8th of May each year. Please check with the Tourist Information Centre for the exact dates.

Flambards Theme Park, Helston – rides are suitable for the younger children.

St Michael’s Mount, Marazion – Walk across the causeway or take the ferry. The views are stunning and the castle fabulous. Take a picnic or eat at the café on the island.

Minack Theatre, Porthcurno – Outdoor theatre and sub-tropical gardens on the cliffs overlooking the sea.

Truro – Cornwall’s only city. Take a look in the cathedral which is stunning or book a theatre trip. From the larger chains to small independent shops this city is vibrant without being crowded. Best avoid travelling through Truro between 4pm-6pm as the traffic can be a significant problem.

St Ives – Needless to say is beautiful; narrow streets full of shops and 3 lovely beaches. Take a trip round Seal Island.

Trago Mills near Liskard – 39 departments of shopping experience. Picnic area, play areas for the children. We tend to go here if we want fresh meat as it is local meat and the quality is extremely good on top of which the prices are really cheap. Daily special offers i.e. 2 large T Bone steaks for £7.50 can be found if you are there by 10am.

The Cornish Markets and Kidzworld – Typical market stalls where you can buy most things. Apparently up to 20 thousand visitors call there each weekend. Kidzworld, which is next to the Cornish Markets, is an undercover playzone for all ages and very popular.

Port Isaac – Approximately 40 minutes’ drive from the caravan you will find Port Isaac where the popular TV series Doc Martin is filmed. Park at the top of the village and walk down the steep hill to the harbour and you will easily recognise the familiar places so often seen on TV. Reward yourself with a delicious coffee and homemade cake from Ruby Tuesdays.

The Carlyon Bay Hotel - Has a Spa and Golf course. There are several golf courses nearby and more information can be found in the golf book in the caravan.
