TRELAVOUR QUARRY, ST DENNIS TRESPASS | The Neighbourhood Team have received an increase in reports from Cornish Lithium of individuals trespassing on the site of the former Trelavour Downs clay pit and causing damage to property and being abusive and threatening to staff when challenged.

Trespassers are putting themselves at risk due to hazards on the site which pose a risk of injury and to life. As per the attached images there are a number of insecure areas of open water and sheer drops on the site with staff witnessing individuals putting themselves at risk of falls from height or falls into deep cold water. Some of these individuals have been children.

Trespassing also poses a risk to staff and emergency services who may end up responding to assist in the rescue of any individuals

Please do not trespass on the site.

🚨 Counterfeit currency in circulation 🚨

We are seeing an increase in the use and purchase of counterfeit bank notes across Mid-Cornwall and surrounding areas to purchase high-value items.

The counterfeit notes have been used to buy items on online marketplace sales, local shops, pubs and licensed premises.

We have already seized a number of fake notes [pictured].

Our investigation into this continues and we will be working closely with local businesses to identify those responsible and prevent further incidents.

Here's what to look out for:

➡️ Counterfeit notes mixed in with genuine cash - take a moment to check bank notes, especially higher denominations

➡️ Someone spending a very small amount but using a high value bank note to receive genuine change

If you come across suspected counterfeit cash, please report it to us. Fake cash can also be handed in at the police station.

If you have any information about the use or distribution of counterfeit currency, please contact us quoting reference 50260121965.

Remember to remain vigilant when buying or selling items - take a moment to check over the cash.

On Thursday 4 June, we responded to reports of antisocial behaviour in St Austell and carried out patrols in areas where suspected drug use had been reported to us with the support of response colleagues from across the county.

During our patrols, we stopped a vehicle in St Austell town centre.

A passenger was dealt with at the roadside for cannabis possession by way of a community resolution.

The driver of the vehicle was arrested on suspicion of driving whilst disqualified, driving without insurance and drug driving. The vehicle was seized.

Gary Woodward, 53, of Saltash, has since been charged with driving whilst disqualified and driving without insurance and appeared before court on Friday 5 June in relation to these offences. Woodward admitted to the offences and has been bailed from court for sentencing on 28 August.

He has been bailed from police custody pending further enquiries in relation to the suspected drug driving offence.
