Many Muslim Jatt societies and welfare organisations have been formed in Britain, as many people from Pakistan of Jatt heritage have settled in the UK. These organisations have served Pakistani community with various successes.
2. Jatt people from all parts of Pakistan, migrated to UK over the years. They inherited a common cultural and traditions, due to the agricultural background. Historically
Jatt people have always been at the forefront to give a leadership to the community and service to other communities; with fairness and generosity. They stood up to the challenges, against unfairness and injustice. Above all they have the ability and commitment to serve and lead due to their tough life style.
3. Jatt Welfare Society of Great Britain (JWS) was initiated in Manchester in 2000/2001, as a small group. Among others, Ch Ghulam Rasool, Faisal Warriach, Ghulam Mohammad Virk, were the founding members of JWS.
4. Meetings, on a small scale were held at various venues around Manchester. They were organised, funded and managed by the JWS founder members, until enough local Jatt families and other members took keen and started to attend and support the Welfare Society.
5. In 2001, a constitution was drafted, approved and adopted. As per the constitution, elections were duly held and an executive committee of 12 members was elected with founder members Ch Ghulam Rasool Ali as the Chairman and Ch Faisal Warraich as General Secretary.
6. Many functions and gatherings were held very successfully at various venues such as Tabak Restaurant, Eastern Pearl Restaurant, Pakistan Community Association Centre etc.
7. In the 2006 elections, Dr M S Hafeez Hussain was elected as Chairman of JWS with Ch Nasrullah Khan Vice Chairman and Faisal Warriach as General Secretary. Ch Manawar Hussain Qadri as Deputy Secretary. Majority of committee members were re-elected. Ch Ghulam Rasool, the ex-Chairman was nominated and approved as Patron of JWS later on in 2013 and ex chairmen and vice chairmen as the members of newly formed Committee to assist the Executive Committee of JWS on a periodic basis.
8. Regular public meetings, on average 2 a year were held to celebrate various social events inviting parents with their children to come along to have meetings and exchange contacts to find suitable matches (Rishtay) for their sons and daughters. Annual General Meeting (AGM) was organised inviting all the members. Elections for the Honorary Officers and Executive Committee members were held every 3 years.
9. In the 2010 elections, Ch Nasrullah Khan was elected as the Chairman along with a new Executive Committee and Officers after the expiry of 3 years term of the previous management.
10. In the meantime, Ch Faisal Warriach moved South of England. service to the Jatt people in Britain, Jatt Welfare Society, London & Home Counties (JWS-HC) was inaugurated with the consultation of the JWS Chairman Ch Nasrullah, as an independently working entity with Ch Faisal Warriach as the Chairman and Ch Barber Mushtaq as its General Secretary. With the passage of time the work of the JWS expanded, the interested
members from other countries i.e, Spain, Saudi Arabia, Germany, France and
Pakistan contacted us to be part of it. Consultations took place among the key
members and officers to form a society internationally in order to meet this
challenge and serve the jatt community worldwide. So it was decided to form
the International Jatt Council. The Council was then formed in November
2014
